Whenever I'm at the junkyard 99% of the newer VW/AUDI's are in that position.

You can remove pretty much nothing but the engine plastic cover without first putting them in service position. Can't even pull a headlight haha

They work for all D2S style HID bulbs and are super reliable. Just requires a +/- connection. I keep them as backups for HID retros.

Hated the whole process of working on those things man. Have to take off this to take off that then reach this to undo that get it in this position to finally be able to unscrew the cap that goes to that which will grant you access to one of the bolts for this in which you need Audi special 47-starred wrench. Every single time

Yeah, I feel that, after working on VWs, it's just infuriating. I have a BMW and other than having torx on hand, everything is still pretty straight forward. VAG vehicles punish you for having the hubris to think you could repair something you own.

You’re taking everything off the red truck and putting in on the silver?

Silver to red. I might put the silver back to stock and sell off the extras.

What is this old school style charcoal canister you speak of? I too would like to clear up some room in there.

HA! I sold my 03 RS6 in June 2013 for the DCSB 03 Tacoma.
That car is SOO MUCH FUN!

    Is he over on RS6.com?
I drove one of the first 6 speed conversions and 1st gear is a bit sticky but manageable.
One of my buds in AZ has 6 of them.

I never got to do this:

Also they are expensive to maintain:
I cracked the plastic oil cooler pipe (aka "bufkin" pipe), a $20 part, and it required to pull the engine and replace the rad at the same time =$5300.

Yea he has a whole build thread under the username 'Muggy'. That thing is an absolute beast!! We've got it dialed in around 750 hp/tq. I sold it to my dad last year bc the parts were just too expensive for me. Worked out tho bc I used that to pay off my Lexus, sell that and buy a first gen and a house! Win/win situation!

There's 3 lines... A vent, a line from the fuel tank and one to engine vacuum through the solenoid

It will function as a charcoal canister but I want to see what can be done to prevent codes

Oh rad. Yea that would be ideal. Way less obtrusive than the massive obscenity that's in there now. Simpler too.
Curious as well about the codes part of it. iirc, there are some plugs that connect up to it.

What years did the 3rz come equipped that one?
