Noted, At Reno they do have an accounting/information systems degree that also focuses on maintaining the programs servers and technical stuff that banks and brokers use. Also have grandparents who are 50 year accountants and holding a couple clients who are more of friends. I've been told If I get the right certifications and all that, the practice stays in the family. I've got time though.

That's the stock market. It's like gambling. You can educate yourself to a high degree, and you still risk losing. Best way to avoid that is to not invest everything you have into one thing and not invest money you can't risk losing.

Unless you have something to set yourself apart, don't get into heavy debt going down that road. There is no shortage of accounting and finance guys. With an abundance, employers don't pay what you're hoping because there are 1,000 other people looking for that same job and there is sure to be one or more that are willing to undercut your wage to get the job. Community College gives you the same toilet paper to tack to the wall as other colleges that will leave you with a mortgage without the house.

i have my CPA and work for a large publicly traded REIT

if I could go back and get any degree it would be something in IT with programming or systems or software...:something.

hell I know several friends that started out of college making what I make now and it’s been a long time.

if you are going to be putting in hours and hours of work. Get paid top dollar for your time all the friends I have make more than me and I have waaaaaay more education and have taken harder certifications.

I just don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze with all the schooling and time you spend getting accounting degrees and CPAs vs what you actually make.

    Not worth it one bit.
    Highly underpaid

    Work for yourself

read Rich Dad poor dad and Cash Flow quadrant and take it from me never work for anyone.

wish I would have worked for myself instead of trying to start a side business while working full time and married and have 2 kids with one on the way.

you learn after all the family and time constraints working for the man sucks more than anything in the world and having your business work for you so you can have freedom of time to live your life is priceless

I have 3 close friends that literally don’t work much and get to go to the beach, vacation, travel, snowboard etc anytime they want and never miss a kids baseball game cause they started businesses BEFORE marriage and kids.

do that and you will be way more happy than any college degree will every make you.

    I promise.

I bought some more APHA at 26 at close of market...then the thing bounced back up to 28!

APHA is getting bought at .83 of TLRY with the merger...so whatever the TLRY price is, APHA will be converted to TLRY shares...
i don't know the exact details and what happens if the relationship (share price) inverts or valuations change...but there's an arbitrage play there assuming the merger goes through.
Current TLRY price means APHA should be worth ~$50...so APHA will follow TLRY to a degree...the closer we get to the merger, the closer the prices will converge to match that .83 ratio.

    https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/02/10/aphria-is-becoming-the-stock-markets-biggest-merge/
    https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/lgj8fp/aphria_inc_apha_my_final_post_before_merger/
    https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/lgw1aa/apha_vs_tlry_arbitrage/?utm_name=iossmf

all the price action right now will drive both stocks up in the immediate short term...things will sell off to settle into a 'reasonable' valuation...so just be mindful of that going forward.

THIS. If that exchange rate holds true, again it’s not set in stone and nobody has a real number that they can point to from a real document but it’s believe that it’s going to be somewhere in the 0.8 range. That means that $APHA is ridiculously on sale right now like 50% off based upon the merger price. It has me very confused as to why they would not be following each other.

Yall making me buy 100 shares at open if aphria tomorrow. Maybe even 200 shares and make some free. I don't have enough exposure to this weed stock boom. I def feel tilray will make a run above 100. Low float and lots of eyes with the merger

12/16/2020 was the merger announcement...TLRY is green.
APHA is bigger I guess...I'm guessing it just took this long to get noticed and take hold..renewed attention to pot stocks?

I’m late to the weed run too, as usual...

Is $APHA the best play or $OGI. Feel like I’ve already missed out on $SNDL :annoyed:

The boat hasn't sailed yet. I just hope brokerages don't restrict trading these stocks. Unlike GME and that squeeze tilray actually is a legit play and every other weed stock is following waiting for the legality news
