I Completed a lot of work on this vehicle. The rear end in the front and have completely been upgraded. But this noise started after I decided to be a mechanic and do my own drum brakes. Which I found I had a leaking wheel cylinder. I know I prematurely did the rear brake job like a fool, discussed in a different thread. But fixed the wheel cylinder..

I initially thought this was the suspension creeping. Some of it is in the video but the sound I’m trying to identify is obvious. It’s a rotating rubbing noise on braking.

I put my hand on the rear drum and had my wife slowly move forward and hit the brake, I could feel it right in the backing plate.

Lots of knowledge on here and wanted to see if anyone has suggestions or solutions. Thx :help:

I'd retorque the u bolts and lube the cushions between the springs with a synthetic greese.

Not sure what you changed on rear brakes but:
Pull drum and make sure you did not bent the backing plate so drum contacts.
Adjusted shoes too tight so back off a few clicks.
If you changed shoes and got cheap ones they could be out of round.
If changed drums and cheap ones also could need to be turned as high spots.

I got standard orileys brake shoes and drums.

I adjusted them tight and then backed off 15 clicks. With tire on/jacked up it rotates almost one full turn then comes to a smooth stop.

im gonna take it to Firestone and have them do brake inspection. It’s free..

Took it to Firestone and the couldn’t hear the noise or and said the brakes looked good.

I pulled out of the parking lot and immediately heard the noise. I got home determined to fix this. I was mad ass hell for wasting and hour and a half.

Took the drum off and noticed the the adjuster was not in the correct position. I fixed it and problem solved. Parking brake works like it should. Before it hardly held the truck. C86918D3-CE30-42B8-A5B0-8ADBAB62F630.jpg

in the end I’m a dumb ass for not checking this. But it’s Fixed.

    thanks guys
