Sho nuff did Started working on it fri afternoon when I got there and had pretty much everything done by sat night. We had a lot of other hands to help, 2 welders, and jobs assigned to each person as to make it go smoother and quicker.

Benefit of raising towers up 1" with 14" kings lower shock mount set for ~6" of bump is at the top of the axle tube

The 62” spring under and Chevy 63” springs are apples to oranges. The 62’s will allow for an additional 5” of up travel and 7” if you notch the frame. This will allow the truck to sit low and have 9-10” of uptravel at ride height. The 62’s will ride night and day better than the 63’s if you plan on driving the truck at speed. If all you’re concerned about is slow speed articulation then the 63’s will be fine. The JD shock mounts are designed to allow the axle to bump out on the frame with a 14” shock... if you do 63’s spring over then you would have room to run a 16” shock or just mount the tabs off the top of the axle. Deaver also makes a spring over pack that works with our hangers/shackles if that’s the route you want to go.

Personally I would only ever go spring under as the ride is much better, the truck can sit lower and you gain and additional 5” of travel.

I’ve wheeled in the big rocks at Johnson valley for years with spring under and never once had an issue with the springs getting hung up on rocks. The spring under kit also uses a cupped spring plate that allows the u bolts to be shorter than the spring pack and protects them at the same time

Don't think I can get away with $2300 plus leafs. Deavers aren't cheap either, and I totally understand the hang ups. The shocks I'll be buying are 14" Foxes. So I'd have to get away with this, and its a daily driven truck so I'm in the middle of speed vs rock crawling which is my primary offroading. I probably will never be bombing this in the dunes but I'd like to be able to get more flex and not hang tire and put more stress on the frame. Eventually I'll box the frame and then things might get out of hand much to my wife's dismay. But at that time I'd be looking at having a new dedicated daily (especially since 14mpgs isn't great for my commute).
I'm working with a limited budget, aka what extra change I have on hand rather than big chunks of fun coupons. I've never been one to put things on credit, but I guess that's an option. I'm 80-90% on road and only get out on the odd weekend to have fun, but I'd like to be able to have a fun streetable truck that's very capable offroad for the fun I do get to have.

TLDR: I'm a poor boy, I need no sympathy, but I like to offroad and more flex looks like fun.

If you are reffering to removing the bed to do a relocate then yes it's much easier. We did a bunch of other stuff though where the bed would have to have been removed like boxing the frame

I'll check out JD fab when I get home, work computer won't load the website for some reason. I'm not averse to difficult or tedious. Just trying to get a sense of what I need to get ready for. I would enjoy being there for the birthing of your setup.

The 62 swap isn't on there yet. You have to call the shop.

I have concerns about the cowl intake, but I they are really the same concerns that I have with snorkels. I haven't seen many designs that I feel like would keep out a really heavy rain.

The cowl intake doesn't get any rain in it. Especially if you slash cut the tube so the longer side is up top. The tube is plenty high enough off the bottom of the cowl to prevent sucking water into it if you submerge that deep.

Honestly, I might get a snorkel just to annoy people with how that thing looks and probably sounds at 75mph.
I'm going to read up on it. It doesn't sound too hard to do and it might be a workable solution for me too.

I thought you wanted the longer end on the bottom, since the water can only splash up, not fall into it since the cowl is covered from above at that location?
