There’s one in Alabama or Mississippi on 20. Can’t remember which state. First one I’ve seen outside of Texas. Next one is in Dallas off 20

Oh the hilarious aspect of that article and where they planned to put it. Stating it is a watershed area yet that vacant lot has had several heard of cattle on it for at least a decade. Not to mention the people there have opposed every venture that tries to buy and develop that land. I'm all for protecting certain properties as to not make them all built up. But a predominantly overgrown cattle pasture full of thickets brush and poorly maintained trees that's been for sale for over 20 yrs that no one but truck stops want isn't exactly prime real estate to build condos or a mall.

It isn't the person selling that's the problem it's the county and locals. They are grasping at an undesirable plot that is only good for one thing a fuel stop of sorts. They weren't the first and won't be the last. The land across the hwy is suffering the same fate.

    Fucking Orange county hippies....

Like when AOC "saved" her district from those 25,000 jobs Amazon wanted to bring there, but on a smaller scale of course.

It's not just the hippies it's the old country Boys too that have fallen for the rhetoric that they spout but don't actually see what's being proposed. I know the guy who has his cattle on the property. He tried buying the land at one point they wouldn't allow him to keep his cattle there if he owned it but leasing it he could. They are so backwards.

Yea the laws on what you can and can’t do with land are so backwards sometimes. Went through that with this big construction project for my company.

this is why I have always and will continue to, live in the rural areas. I can do shit and no one says anything. I’ve built two cabins on my land in Texas, about to put in a shipping container and make it a cabin for myself and something to store some stuff for when I get home. Tax man hasn’t said shit and likely won’t..

If he bought the land who's telling he can't have cattle there?

The county commissioners and zoning office. Right now it being leased it's in a grey area of land use. If he bought the land he'd have to go through a whole ordeal of having the land re-zoned to allow the cattle. It's all typical red tape and crap.

That's why I'm going to rent until the kid is done with grade school then I'm heading for the hills. This city living stuff is for the birds I want my 30 min commute to the grocery store back.

Yup, that’s why as soon as my kids graduate, I’m buying a piece of land and building a house on it. Well outside of town.

actually looking at a 70ac property between CLT and AVL for hunting land and eventually a homestead.
