Oh there will be some mods all right
Just picked this up, got the ELITE MEMBER discount (if you bought and registered a recent graphics card you qualify to become a ELITE MEMBER) . Never was truly in love with my current keyboard so I'll pass it on to my dad. They have mice half off as well but I'm pretty happy with my current one. I've been very happy with all my EVGA purchases and experiences so I figured the keyboard was worth a try.

Funny timing. My EVGA PSU just died within three hours of turning on for the first time. Booted my new PC for the first time tonight, installed windows, started formatting my secondary drive, left for dinner and a run to wally world, come back and it's a complete brick. No response from anything. Doesn't do shit with a paperclip test. Super disappointed in EVGA right now. Amazon isn't getting me a replacement until Monday :pout:

Damn. Hopefully that was just a fluke. My EVGA psu has been going strong for quite a while.

My corsair is still going strong after 11 years although it no longer does PC duty, it's my 12v source for bench testing stuff in the garage.

I have an EVGA G3 750 in my system now, no issues.

Been looking at the ASUS Thor just for the bling factor, kinda going full RGB. :notsure:

Yeah, hopefully. The replacement *might* get here tomorrow, fingers crossed. I was honestly surprised, never had a PSU fail on me before.

Damn those are some nice fans. I put 3x Antec Spark or Prizm (I forget which..) 120mm pwm rgbs and 2x 140mm thermaltake pwm aRGB's in. Alll the whirly boi RGB for shits and giggles. I still have some RGB ram coming too

I'm probably going to set it all to white eventually though for that stormtrooper look with the white case and mostly black components.

Only PSU I've had fail was a Corsair. Not to say Corsair is bad but just that any brand can have a PSU go bad.

Ahhh I seee. Yeah, Intel changes their sockets all the time. Like every other generation they determine they need a new one. Not to mention the workhorse processors vs consumer etc.

They also have a bad habit of keeping the same socket but disabling features or flat out not supporting new processors on older motherboards. Rocket Lake is no different. It'll work on Z490 boards but supposedly not on the lower 400 series boards. Silliness.

Huh. So I don't know who else follows leaks but benchmarks for the Rocket Late i7 11700K and i9 11900K are out and it's not that impressive. I mean in Cinebench R20 single core they post some crazy good numbers but in game they struggle to match the 5800X, let alone the 5900X or 5950X. I wonder what's wrong? Maybe Intel is going after productivity but then they'll get creamed by the 5900X and 5950X with their high core counts. I was expecting more out of Rocket Lake. Maybe the final BIOS and build versions will be a bit better at using that power?

Oh, and the chips regular hit 98c under load with 300ish watts of power draw in the leaks so that's now a thing lol.

Also AMD came out and said they expect a 40% IPC jump between the 5000 series Zen 3 desktop chips and the 6000 series Zen 4 chips. Oh, and the 6000 series will use a new AM5 socket. What's unknown is a gap in what AMD said. They claim about 19% of the 40% jump is Zen 4, and another 10% is the die shrink to 5 nm, but that leaves another 10% not accounted for. So, DDR5 maybe?

Alder Lake is interesting. On one hand it's innovative and should be on a new process node. On the other it's basically a 10900K die shrink with a 8 low power cores from Intel's big-little laptop experiment all communicating across a new version of QPI. I'm not sure it's going to keep up to the 6000 series which seems to be promising high core counts at full speeds with reasonable power draw.

The leaks so far are either broken or fake, i mean 27.7ghz boost? In other news the 11700k might take the crown from the 7700k for the most pointless release ever.

100% broken. That's pretty common. The 27.7 Ghz is because the software isn't setup to properly detect Rocket Lake. This happens every time but the benchmarks are probably close.

but yeah, Alder Lake is Intel really trying to come back but I don't think we will see their Nehalem moment until 2023 or eve 2024. They just hired they guy who actually designed Nehalem back, he left because management was happy with 10% IPC increase per year and didn't want his ideas anymore, to try and fix the mess Intel is in now. I see that, coupled with new ideas like the Cryo Cooler lineup, as Intel realizing that they can't make a small change and hope to get back to dominance. They need a major cultural shift in multiple areas of the company.

Also I laugh at some of the reviews lately. I will possibly get a new laptop this year and seeing reviewers comment that SK Hynix is a new SSD manufacturer cracks me up. They bought out Intels entire SSD division. All the SK Hynix products are just rebadged Intel products from the exact same production line, they aren't untested.

I'm leaning towards selling it..I haven't gamed really much in forever and only on systems, not a PC plus I don't play online..no place to really set it up either. Nice machine but way more than I would use. What does the general deprecation work like on custom stuff?

Currently a lot of PC stuff is hard to get ahold of right now. like the graphics card for instance would probably bring at least $500. Sometimes it can be hard to sell an entire custom PC kind of like buying someone's customized truck. you might be better off trying to sell the individual components.
