I did mine bc I snapped my bolt. What's the size I need to replace it? Only one of the ties didn't bust trailing last week

Thank you, yes I know of the 8.8 swap but thought there was a connection for the drive line or sumthin that was super hard to find. How do the 8.8s hold up versus a 6 lug rear strength wise? I don't mind an extra spare knowing I can thrash it with more peace of mind

Nothing crazy sounding tho, just figured the toyo to toyo swap would be easier lol

I haven't done any research on it so I don't know for sure what is really involved but I think the main thing needed was to change the flange at the end of the driveshaft to match the 8.8. I can't imagine that would be too hard or too costly to have your driveshaft changed to match up. I don't know about the brakes either and what was involved hooking those up. As far as strength, :notsure: I'm sure the 8.8 is just as strong as the 8.4.

The 8.4 from a 6cyl 5lug would be easiest but you'd probably want to regear and now your cost just tripled unless you don't mind the loss of acceleration from slow to even slower!

    True story:

My wife and I honeymooned on St. Martin a few years ago. Found a remote beach on the French side of the island that was "clothing optional." I told her screw it, downed some local rum we brought and hung meat. All I had on was a straw fedora she bought me in town. Got hammered, got sunburned on my ass, and nap-mooned the whole harbor.

Later that night at our resort, we ran into two other Americans who had been at the same beach earlier. They asked if we'd seen the naked Frenchman in the fedora. I show them the hat and say "this one?"

They got really awkward and said they were late for dinner. We still laugh about it.

hey, I don't mean to be a downer and I don't want to be that guy that says just buy a 6 lug but with all of the added costs you're going to dump into the 5 lug, you're ultimately going to end up with something that's just as capable as a stock 6 lug. If you're seriously wanting to get out and use the truck how it sounds like you are trying to use it, maybe saving the fab money and getting into a 6 lug is something to strongly consider in the long run.
