No worries, you arent the first and wont be the last as my progress on this truck grows.

I still owe half of my financing with the truck (~5k), and have replaced the head and hg at 125k miles with only 132k miles on it now. Not a spec of rust on the frame, and everything else looks and feels solid on the truck otherwise. Id consider dropping it and going to a new truck given different circumstances, but ya

So I put a heating pad under my keyboard this morning. Best decision I've made all week.

tbh i havent even had the need for 4wd yet. IF i dont as I continue to build, will likely stay 2wd and go LT. This is why im building the rear first (others recommend to build the rear first anyways)

I think on the surface it sounds like you're going about this the hard way starting with a 5lug, but I don't think its all that bad. Just be sure of the path before you start though - selling off a heavily modified 5-lug to change directions later would really hurt.

As long as you have a plan laid out that's all that matters.

Being realistic with how you'll use the truck is also really important; I scroll through people's builds only to see them change certain things up over and over....ending up to be way more expensive than things could've been.

I could've stuck with the Tacoma I had, but it's so nice just tossing the 4R in 4H and not even touch the locker.

    Ima preach to you too.

Just do it right the first time. With the 99 I had the mentality of “I’ll get this for now, cause I can afford it, and save for something better”.

I never got something better cause I always found other things I’ve wanted.

With the 02 I’m getting the “better” things the first time, even if it takes a couple years to piece together.

Like directly under the keyboard? I never knew that was a thing. Those wrist cushions that go below the keyboard would be nice heated

The difference is, here we have maybe a couple hundred mountain lions in these mountains vs the thousands or whatever that you guys have lol.

I have no sympathy for people that let their pets live outdoors and then complain when they get eaten/attacked by a wild animal. If you don't want that to happen, keep them inside and monitor them when they're outside.

On our community FB page there are posts by Karens almost daily about how coyotes are taking over and "killing our pets and endangering our children"....FFS Karen, when has a coyote ever gone after a person

I'm sure it's happened once or twice but its not the norm

Coyotes were always a thing at the house out here, and mountain lions in San Clemente where I used to live.

Always hear about a pet getting snatched up once a month or so but it's usually by those that let their pets run far from them off leash.

Whenever I took Shadow running with me, she'd always be on a leash.

Not the whole state, I'm sure the Sierras have a ton of them. I just mean the area where that town Wrightwood is from the article ..which is only about 45 min from me, same mountain range (San Gabriels)

Lol, I live in the sticks and get that still. Like bitch they're all over, this is their natural habitat. They're super afraid of humans, I've tried to approach them, they're not having it.

It's even weirder here because we also get a lot of black bears in this area, being in the foothills...most of the houses around here have bear proof trash cans. Everyone here is extremely protective and supportive of the bears, but god forbid someone sees a coyote and it's like the world is ending lol.

I guess CA banned hunting lions here in the 90s, they're probably all moving to CA from UT to escape from you lol
