What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Nope, I'm totally stock running the giant toyota muffler and my cat and o2 sensor were replaced by the PO a few years ago before I bought it

 

wouldnt happen to be a magnaflow cat would it? that was the other thing i had on at the time. and the stock replacement cat has an odd step down toward the rear

 

I don't believe so, it should be the stock replacement. I'm in California so I assumed you could only run one kind here. So I need a fancy reader to see what's going on in this case?

 

if you can run a log to see what is out of the norm it would help. but honestly i lived with it for 3 years. just dont go full throttle and come to a stop if you can.. just giving it a little gas after letting off seemed to stop it from dying out

 

Yeah it's definitely livable, I was just wondering if it's something that might need replacing like a fuel related issue like the pump or something to do with the IAC or MAF, but if it's not much of an issue and more of a weird quirk I can live with it. I just don't want to be stranded when I'm out camping somewhere remote and regret not fixing it haha.

My truck has always done the same thing. If I bounce off of limiter and then just completely let off the gas it dies.

I have a new throttle body from toyota on the way due to some IAC issues I've been having. Once I get it in I'll have to go bounce off of limiter and see if that's the issue.

 

I had this happen plenty of times in Frank.

I always assumed it was because I had opened up my exhaust some and the lack of back pressure caused it. Never had it happen on my other two.

I've been on the highway, pass someone, go to down shift, truck dies at 75mph haha starts back up and all good. but still. Never had that happen until I did the exhaust.

Just use a 4L60, a few minutes of use and you'll find yourself with 6 neutrals and a park
