JT I know with the Forest Service a vet. can keep their pension and annual leave and sick leave hours and they stay in the same category as far as 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours earned per payperiod ect..and if I recall correctly you have salary protection as well meaning you'll earn the same. but that should be the same with all fed. agencies across the board.

Good luck Aaron and everyone else taking the test.

I'm not quite sure if the time does transfer over, I'm gonna have to look into that myself. I know the they use the TSP for retirement so that transfers over. You get the study guide sent to you after you apply but you can also print one off the computer before applying I think.

Do you work for the forest service? I'm just weighing my options of getting out and getting a federal job. Being deployed and gone from the family alot gets a little old after a while.

Ya I work in Ca. Vets get more points and they get the first job offers.

We hired a girl from the navy and her 4 years of service were credited toward her Time in Grade as a firefighter. I'm sure it can be different with every fed agency but thats how it worked on my forest.

There are LOTS of practice tests out there. I'm sure you can dig one up somewhere and I'm sure you'll do just fine on the test.

What do you do in the forest service? I'd be more interested in fire fighting than CBP, do they have an academy they send you to to be certified to do that?

I took the Fake Lingo and it was pretty hard test. I ran out of time for the reasoning but had a crap load of time for language . Will see how i did in two weeks.
