I also had him put a new formula up on the board once and I asked "What's the real world application for this?" "What do you mean, its right here, this is the real world..." Ass.

Slightly shorter and more rolling resistance due to the larger contact patch. Sorry @Sociopenguin, nothing against your tires haha

If it had actual applications beyond 'theorems and proofs' I'd have a lot easier time wanting to learn and retain that info. I didn't go to school to be a mathematician.

Watching Numberphile videos and similar has really caused me to appreciate the exploratory and puzzle-solving nature of mathematics, but honestly I'm beyond the point of really wanting to dig into it to attain a proper understanding. If math had been approached like that from the beginning, beyond "this is what math does" and as you said "theorems and proofs", I'd have been far more interested in general. Fantastic and mind-bogglingly useful tool, atrocious introduction

Yeah. For most of us its a means to an end, just another tool in the toolbox. But there's some people that really take a liking to just tracing through the logic to the bitter end, and I think how its taught has a lot to do with that.

That seems kind of gimicky, but the premise has, um, promise?

Just for example, even though it's outdated.

So even if all other things were equal, processor and other junk, just the sensor size allows for more light and a larger reference image from a higher quality lens. And as much as we don't want to admit it, our phone camera lenses take a daily beating that the mirrorless lenses don't. A larger sensor also allows for more quality components that gather data faster and with more resolution.

TLDR: Wedding photographers and school photo photographers use dedicated cameras for a reason, even though they also have a cell phone.

    LOL Do you mean geometry?
Diff Eq is the wall that almost everybody hits hard the first time. It's a struggle for sure.
Is that their entry into the RT category?
EDIT: nevermind, I see the AT now lol. I think my neighbor has the 285/75r17 AT3s on his 4runner. They look good, but I can't ever get him to go anywhere with me to wheel.
Extreme Country tires are about the absolute lightest. The 255/85r16 is a 49lb E rated tire. I'm getting them this summer if I can ever get the Liberty DT to accept my price match from DT corporate on a set of wheels.

Is interesting though, Toyo's are usual very heavy. Be interesting to see what they changed to drop the weight.

I think the current trend is thinner sidewalls with more efficient/ better carcass materials. They might have changed their compound to something lighter, but that will probably wear faster. I wonder if anybody has done a cross section comparison.
