    Which part?

The first one, the SR, was totaled when a lady turned into oncoming traffic.

Traded the 2nd one, The SR5 2wd, to get a 4wd... kept that for a while and loved it...

Traded the SR5 4WD for a 4runner, always liked them and wanted to try one out... Great vehicle. Awesome offroad. Missed having a truck...

Got the Colorado Z71 instead of another Tacoma because it was cheaper, plus I wanted to try something new, and since I like getting a different vehicle every year damn near... Seemed like a good choice.

The Colorado was plagued with issues. Electrical issues, fuel delivery issues, coolant issues... Multiple crank but no starts, dying on me while driving, hard idling, shaking, radio going dim and restarting, air conditioning running full blast even when turned off, gurgling from heater core...

Chevy didn't want to fix it. All problems were intermittent, it would die while driving but then start back up and so on... I left it at the dealership for a few days and they said they couldn't replicate any of my concerns... But they also failed to drive it for more than one mile, as proved by my odometer and by the chevy phone app which showed no hard accelerating or anything, meaning they didn't even bother testing it out... then when I returned again they straight said "until it becomes a permanent problem or throws hard codes" we can't do anything about it...

So I got rid of that POS...

    And I'm back.

    2020 SR 4x4 Utility Package
    255/85/r16, 1.5 spacers, ditch lights
Hello everyone. Fairly new to tacoma's. I actually despised the second gen pickups and have now grown to love the 3rd gen, specifically the utility package!

Have a 2020 SR utility package 4x4 that I genuinely think is the greatest pickup Toyota has ever built, and after looking at all the options on the truck market today, think beats out the competition easily.

I'll be doing quite a bit to this truck to get it ready for overlanding to Alaska and South America, have started by adding the ladder rack that I'll be mounting equipment to, and more importantly:

when doing my own research, tires are always a multi-thread multi-page question.
After days of research and deliberating, mainly between the 265/75r16 and the 255/85r16, I went with the latter.

My truck's suspension is BONE stock. and is the SR utility package access cab, so the most basic coils and springs on the front, and the steel wheels with the ridiculously high offset (~30-35mm)
I ordered a set of Falken Wildpeak MT01s in 255/85/r16, I went with the larger size because I knew they would fit stock and if I was spending money on new tires I was going to go with the size I wanted, and make it work.

I can go into these tires with more detail if anyone wants them but summarized, they're fantastic. VERY quiet for a true mud tire, good snow performance as we've had 3 or so storms here in NH recently, and braking distance is a little lengthened but not excessively so like the KM2's and Geolandar's and Bighorn's I've owned.

I was a little surprised as even inflated they seem to measure right around the 32" mark.

These tires fit on the STOCK sr steel wheels (16"x7" +30mm offset) and fit on the truck perfectly. I have light LIGHT rubbing on the UCA at full lock with some articulation.

I didn't even notice the rub while driving, only noticed when looking at the UCA and seeing a very small (1/8"x1/2") strip of the new england salt having been rubbed off.

So this should hopefully put an end to the question of "does 255/86/r16 fit stock" with a resounding YES.

Here are some pictures of the tires on the truck which I believe look incredible and I'm glad I went with the max sidewall possible. They fill out very well and have IMPROVED ride quality over bumps and obstacles greatly.

Has anyone heard from @RivetNutBob since Dec 14th? Several of us have sent PMs to him but he has not replied. I am very concerned at this point. If anyone has his cell number or email address, please tell him to at least check his TW PMs and reply please. Thank you very much.

@MightBeLost that is a sweet looking ladder rack. Is it made of aluminum?

    Yes.

I will probably unleash the hordes with this comment but I found it pretty silly looking at "overland" racks that had static capacities of 800 pounds or so, for $1300.

The System One truck racks have t-slot accessory rails, available toolboxes, and plenty more, with a 1250+ lb capacity, and can routinely be had for $300 or less (I bought this one for $200).

Will it mount a RTT? Yes. Will I be able to mount the spare tire, fuel, and other cargo? yes. Can I mount a shovel, hi-lift, and axe? yes.

One problem, it's aluminum which brings the weight down to about 100 lbs, but it's aluminum, which oxidizes easily, is unnattractive (subjective obviously) and a little more difficult to have coated/painted.

Other than that, these are fantastic racks with high weight limits and great mounting/accessory systems.

Anyone know what this black plastic gadget in the center of the photo is?
    oil sprayed.jpg

It is located up under the truck bed, to the front of the rear axle. You can see to the front my square-shaped LRA aluminum gas tank, to the rear a 13 gallon freshwater tank, and the underside of my aluminum flatbed.
I'm asking because oil has somehow sprayed onto the water tank and was wondering if this gadget is the culprit

    Thanks!

I took my 2017 TRD OR Access Cab to the dealer today to inspect the battery that was replaced 11 months ago under warranty. I have been having starting issues(sometimes battery dead and needed a boost) after the truck sat idle for a weekend. Found out the replacement battery falls under the original truck warranty which was only 9500 klms of a 60000 klm/ 3 year warranty. My tire shop said the battery failed a load test the day before, Toyota said today the battery was "ok" after being on their special charger after 1 hr. I guess I will be looking for a better battery and not relying on the OEM battery to get me through the rest of the winter. Perhaps I'll use it as a secondary battery if I can find someone that makes a secondary battery tray for an OR at a reasonable price.
