VF tuning collaboration and BS

That is a good idea, I will start key locking them. I forgot that was an option for us.

I appreciate the offer for the beta access to the trans patch, but I will be out of town for work for a while and won't be able to test anything. But I'm sure there are a few other guys that would love to.

i can offer 04B04 files if someone shows me how to lock them, but you have to pay @PapaRee first via his PayPal to get the tune, he could message me usernames that have paid.

I have many of his tunes and many of them tuned to gears and 32” tires, as well as AGM. Again, 04B04 only

 

I'll test for sure. What's in the patch exactly? The clunk when going to a stop as the transmission downshifts or just some update?

Edit: Oh, ok. I see what it's supposed to do after a little search. I'm definitely down.

also keep in mind, once you lock a file it’s always locked. If you want it unlocked you need to make a new one

You don't have to lock files. But IF you don't, you run the risk of someone taking it and selling as theirs.

They could take it, lock it to them, and even claim as their IP.

Personally, the tunes I make I don't mind sharing. But, I put a disclaimer in all the files to prevent any fingers being pointed back at me if something were to happen. I like how we've been sharing the files and learning by dissecting everyone's tunes. Without it, vF would be a little pointless and we should have stayed with OV. I like how it has grown to be honest.

 

Ya but it’s just pretty lame for some guy some where to tune someones truck with any of the Tunes created by the guys here and have him tell his customer “I think you’ll really like this one, I customized it for all the cool stuff you have on your rig” Than pocket a couple hundred bucks. I mean, That’s a lot of Beer money. Right? Anyways, it’s sad to have to lock the created tunes if you want but...watcha gonna do.

 

That really is crappy, I love looking through everyone's tunes to learn more about how we can modify our vehicles to shift and run better. I just got with @PapaRee on his DaCruiser 3.0 because I was loving it, tomorrow I'm going to try out the 4.0 and play around with tweaking my own tune a bit more. I have learned a ton about OV and VF from so many of you all and it sucks to think that the public sharing of the tunes will have to go away because people just want to make a buck off of them. From what I have come to learn, it isnt that hard to just modify the tunes yourself to include the best of everything you learn... laziness I guess. Either way, thanks to all of you that have helped me! I am absolutely loving how my truck drives now... well, when I'm not screwing something up in one of my tunes hahaha

 

I think for the most part the enthusiasts on here are honest people. Personally I have learned a lot from looking at tunes and have ventured into making my own, plus have thrown moose and papa beer money for the awesome stuff they have done.

I wish we could have a webinar or whatever that was mentioned from Matt so he could share some of his knowledge but at the same time its cool opening different files and learning that way too. I think locking files would do nothing but limit growth, keeping them personal and sharing amongst known and trusted people sounds like a good route.

 

File collaboration does not have to go away. It won't go away.

There will always be someone trying to make a quick buck out of it though.
This isn't unique to tacomas or VF. It happens all over the tuning world.


Nobody has to lock their files. It's totally optional. It's just good to be *aware* that anyone receiving that file *could* turn around and resell it.


Don't let this get in the way of progress.

 

Oh of course it won't go away, and I am super thankful for the community that has been built around your work. like I said, I am loving all of the modifications I have been able to do to mine by "simply" spending some time (read: dozens of hours) reading through what everyone else has done.

 

Shoutout to @PapaRee for his Premium Kruiser tune!

I was going to wait a little while before posting anything but hoooooly shiiiiiit. This tune kills it. Completely kills it. The first time I goosed it after letting my engine get up to temperature, I had to pause and collect myself from the back seat. Like... what happened to my Tacoma? I didn’t realize I was driving a Charger RT!

Seriously, that tune is crazy. I’m going to have to dyno my Taco soon just to see what exactly is going on in the power band because this thing is ripping now! Combined with my CAI and new catback the truck sounds and performs better than ever. It’s amazing honestly.

I even did a dead stop sprint to 60mph and not only did the rear wheels completely break loose, I’m confident the 0-60 times is in the 6 second range now with a good launch - not that we are going to do that a lot (or ever again) but it was for funsees.

If you haven’t tried @PapaRee’s tune yet then I highly recommend it. Give this dude some love.
