Tinny Roof Sound

tHOSE ANYONE WITH A NEW TACO FEEL LIKE THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE SOMETHING OVER THE HEADLINER LIKE INSULATION. TO KILL SOME OF THE NOISE.
WHEN I CLOSE THE SUNGLASS DOOR ON THE CEILING THE HOLLOW SOUND IS THROUGHT OUT THE WHOLE ROOF. and when it rains its kinda funny too..
I may have to dyna mat the shit out of it. Lokks like taking the headliner down wont be to much a problem

Are there any recommended repair books for these beasts /I had a bently manual for bmw and it was super.

I have not noticed this problem or heard of anyone with it. Let us know how the insulation process goes.

BTW what kind of beamer did you own? I had a 1990 325i for about 7 years before my little bro totalled it

I put RaamMat and Ensolite on my roof and it makes a big difference. Doing the roof and doors makes the truck sound a lot more solid, especially when you shut the doors, they sound heavy and solid like a luxury car. Check the stereo section of my CarDomain.

Little bro is ok. if anything happened to him the beamer is the last thing i would be complaining about. He had a slight burn on his arm from the airbag and his sunglasses broke but other than that he's fine

I agree with the tinny sound. First time I travelled through the rain, I couldn't believe my ears! I am surprised that Toyota missed this little detail.

Yes, when large drops of rain hits the roof of my 07 Double Cab it sounds like I'm in a old barn with a tin roof. I love my Tacoma but there's a lot of cheep things about it I wish were better engineered..

 

PB I want to do this also, I have the rest of the cab pulled apart but I have clothing hooks on the back wall and I don't know how to take them out. I have heard that you are supposed to turn them and some people say just to pull them. Can you please tell me what to do unless of course the double cabs don't have these hooks. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

 

You twist the hooks (ithink a quarter turn) and they pop out. I can't remember which way. If you meet resistance, try the other direction.

 

This is a great idea and on my to-do list - but how much of a pain is re-installing the roof liner be? My fiancee had a sunroof put in her ride about a year ago - and the roof liner (interior) flaps in the wind and drives me CrAzY!

 

Maybe just squirt some great stuff foam up there - problem solved

do not use the triple expanding stuff - it will bend the sheet metal

Remember there is a side curtain airbag in the 2010's. I would not squirt anything around where the airbag is.

 

I put Damplifier Pro, made by Second Skin Audio (arguablky best out there) on my last truck's roof and it made a HUGE difference. You cant even hear the rain hitting it. I plan to do the same w/ this truck once I have free time. Its a little time consuming but so well worth it.
