Hey, I just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm Kev and I just picked up my first Tacoma yesterday... Here's a pic...

First thing I'm looking to do is put some new tires on her... I'm open to suggestions... Thanks!

Welcome! What type of driving do you usually do? Highway, off-road, everything? There obviously snow where you are maybe a set of winter tires? That’ll help with some of the suggestions on tires!

Howdy! Depending what your driving habits are would be the biggest factor in tires.

Nice Tacoma. I got a four door as well, so me and my girlfriend and our two dogs can go places in it. I have owned a 1985 Toyota truck (1987-1993), a 1991 truck (1993-2000), a 1998 Tacoma (2000-2017) and my current 2015 Tacoma. All four wheel drive, all with camper shells. I traded in my 1998 when it had 435,000 miles on it. I wondered out loud if it would go straight to the crusher, but the salesman replied that it would be sold, and the salesman himself might be interested. It sold two days later.

    Thanks for all the welcomes!!

As far as the type of driving, I mostly drive around town and on the highway. I bought the truck because I just became a homeowner for the first time and it's a fixer-upper so I find myself at the hardware store every weekend. I could use the extra cargo space and I love the way the truck looks!

I've always been a car guy and this is my first truck, I got it because of it's legendary reliability. With that being said I've never done any driving off-road but it definitely looks like fun.

I like the look of the tires in the photo I attached but I'm pretty open to any suggestions.

    Thanks!

how much did they give you for the 98 when you traded it in?

435k on the clock is absolutely astonishing! I can only wish mine will last that long.

Where can I find the clips that hold the fender flares on? Other than the dealer...

Like 1200 bucks. I kept my receipts, and the 40 grand I spent on (purchase, tires, maintenance, etc) it averaged out to $2500 a year. Way worth it for me.

Regular maintenance, I did most of mine for years except for replacing the timing chain.

1985 Toyota: Replaced two starters in 250,000 miles, right tie rod (that's a story in itself), plus regular maintenance.
1991 Toyota: Replaced a starter and the front driveshaft., plus regular maintenance.
1998 Tacoma: Regular maintenance for 400k+ miles, which is a lot, driver's door handle, both side mirrors after they hit the side of my garage door, and other minor stuff.
2015 Tacoma: Replaced the driver side visor and the right front tie rod so far.
