Body Armor Basket and Rack. Upgraded stereo to a Sony touch screen blue tooth model. Changed out tail lights to LED black outs, and headlights as well. Purchased LED off-road lights for the Basket but have not installed them yet. 126K miles as of 2/15/2021
Greetings all. I have paid off my 08 Tacoma and starting to plan out things I intend on doing with her. I noticed the overhead digital clock/compass/temp gauge stopped working and wondered if any one knows if there is anyone that does custom mods for interior components. In this case I would like to swap out the burned out clock and replace with a set of toggles/panel flaps to run offroad lights or something along that line. Feel as though they would be better suited and easier to reach there.

I'm in Maryland now and hope someone out there has already done this or can do it since I lack the general skills to make this happen.

    Thanks

I know you want to replace it, but just in case this info would change your mind.. in most cases fixing the overhead temp/compass is pretty easy if you have a soldering gun or pen. Check out this thread:

It's just resoldering a resister usually. Worked for mine.

That’s the same post I followed.
I took mine to a Truck Stop that worked on CB radios.
The didn’t charge me anything. I gave him $10 anyways.
It took him probably less than 5 mins.

I hate soldering with a passion. I wouldn't charge you either with the hack job I did on mine but it worked. OP, here's proof that it's so easy that a caveman can do it. Still working til this day.

You don’t want to see me making a bumper with a welder. Will end up with a 500lb bumper that no suspension company can accommodate.

I'm set on replacing the unit all together as a 3rd clock and temp/compass seems unnecessary and pointless. I would much rather use the space for something i will actually use.
