It's a lot of work. You have to cut all the factory LCA mounts off. Then set the new stuff up which locates off the factory holes where you mount skid plates too. Some massaging of the new mounts may be needed to get a really good fit. Then you have to burn it all in and paint everything. It's a good solid day and a half min working almost non stop.

 

Thanks, I got that and have been following that thread from the start, and is why I haven't jumped on it. I dont have the welding experience needed, and that would cost a pretty penny in labor. Randy on the other hand, has those skills, which peeked my curiosity with his statement.

 

A lot of work and I have my already slightly custom front end since I chopped off that crossmember and modified my skid for it. I don’t like the skid he offers with it as I don’t think it’s beefy enough for the wheeling I like to do, so I would need so figure something out with that. And like you said, the tubbing I’ve already done. Plus the LT moves the tire forwards almost an inch on its own.

that’s one of the perks of this kit. And it pulls as much wheel travel as a lot of the 3.5 kits. It really is cool.

 

You don't have to set it so it moves it forward you can have it set to 0

 

Yes I know. I meant that the fact that the lca kit can move the lower forward doesn’t really appeal to me because the LT kit already does that to some degree.

Speaking of winches, winching and load rating...was looking at the warn m8000S, figured aside from a straight pull with a loaded down rig, it should be more than sufficient for our trucks, or is going with 10 or 12k just smarter overall?

 

Go with a 10k, it’s the perfect sized winch. Adam had an 8k warn on his truck and it just didn’t seem to be up to the task. It worked but it really worked hard. Most pulls aren’t with the line all the way out so pulling power is diminished from that alone. You can get away with an 8k if you’re ok with setting up a double line pull with a snatch block a little more often but IMO the 10k is the way to go.

 

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking, and didn't think/factor the reduced rope meaning less pulling umppphh. Just trying to buy made in USA, but obviously it comes at $ premium...so going smitty or badlands could mean a savings!

 

The USA made warns are crazy expensive. I went with the warn evo 10s and it didn’t break the bank at like $770 or so. No idea where it’s made though lol

 

Yeh, it just doesn't have the capacity of my Igloo Xtreme. And my Igloo keeps ice for days. I will probably list my Dometic for sale as well.
