....when seeing the new gen Tacoma when they first came out...wanted to find the person in charge of the design and bow down?

I remember when i first saw the 2005. I actually did a double take because I didn't realize it was a Tacoma. I always wanted a Tacoma
but I actually hated the last gen look. I almost bought a Chevy until I saw that 05 Taco. I've had my 05 for 3 years and 2 months and I really don't think there's anything out there I'd rather drive.

Oh wait....that new Camaro! I'd drive that!!! And I ain't a car guy!

Don't get me wrong, I love the truck now... that's why I bought one. It is when they first came out I had a 1st gen Tacoma, the new ones seemed too big. After seeing them around for a couple of years they grew on me so I bought one.

When they first came out I really disliked the rear wheel arch. Actually I disliked everything around the rear wheel, the arch, the body line. While I still dont like it that much, it doesnt offend me too much anymore. Especially since I own one now.

I like the F150 styling a lot more, but I couldnt pass up the Yota reliability.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
I have always loved the Tacomas and early year Toyota trucks, I always wanted one. I loved the 2nd gen from the get go, there was absolutely nothing wrong with anyhting before, but I saw it and thought, "they made great even better!" It just so hapened the 2005 came out right after I got out of college and got a job and could afford one. Love it still to this day, and if I couldn't for some reason have a 2nd gen I would happily take the 1st gen!

Yep! I hated them also, took me a few years and started to see them lifted and man I fell in love! :)
But I still like the 01-04's, I just like the 2nd gen better....

    None - yet...
I had an 04 and loved the look, especially the rounded wheel arches and fender flares. But the transmission sucked and I ended up selling it after only 9 months. I don't particularly care for the 2nd gen. wheel arches with the straight lines, but it runs much nicer than the 1st gen. and seems to be a bit bigger. My perfect Taco would blend the wheel arches of the 1st gen with the balance going 2nd gen.

The only thing I hated about the 01-04 is that front "gash" going above the front fender. It just seemed out of place to me. I fell in love with the 05 at 1st sight .... it looked mean and I loved the bulky look.

I really like the 1st gen. taco's! I think they are awesome looking trucks. Back in early 06 i was looking for a nice used 1st gen and well couldn't find one. So i ended up buying a new 2nd gen offroad. I didn't really like the current looks at first, but it grew on me.

x2. Regretted selling my '03 Toy DC 4x4 a few yrs back but one day when I saw a lifted '05 Tacoma parked next to a lifted 1st gen 4x4, I was sold. It's just looks massive and intimidating vs the 1st gen.
