Why would you have had to change the suspension?

Almost everyday on TW i see something like: "OR suspension is junk", "sport suspension is garbage", when in reality they are all good. They are meant for different things and work quite well IMO.

    Check build thread!
IMHO if you aren't doing some serious offroading, crawl control is simply a fun gimick. Nothing wrong with that! However, I have had my truck for 700km and already gotten it stuck twice, engaged the locker, and gotten out. Also, pulled my Mom's JL 2 Door out lol.

Oh, there’s nothing wrong with it... in fact, compared to the Sports Hitachi suspension, the OR’s Bilstein suspension is amazing. My plan before I bought the truck was a 2.5” front and 1” rear lift from Eibach. I like to camp and that involves leaving the pavement... so larger tires and clearance is sometimes nice to have. That’s why I went with the cheaper of the two, bc I knew I’d be pulling all the upgrades off for my own upgrades. And again... hood scoop!! Ha ha ha!!!

I've run the sport and OR stock suspension on my Sport doing some gnarly off roading. They both work great for what they are, nobody should worry about replacing them when they first buy a Taco.

Sounds like you have a really nice rig going! There isn't a cheaper of the 2 in the USA unless you are buying used. They both have the same MSRP if you configure them the same. For example the listing for new MSRP in 2020 for a Sport and Off Road DCSB AT 4x4 says $36,965 for both trim levels.

Sounds like a good call - with the wind - HAHA. Yeah we have several stores that do sell it here (shipped in) but YES it is VERY expensive...but I pay for it - along with Wild Caught Alaskan Salmon, and Bison. We live on a small river, but it is full of bass and other fish - not trout ...LOL - not the same.

I just purchased a 2021 Sport MT. I was not aware of the various configurations, but here was my metric:

    - Access cab (I absolutely loathe the 4 door)
    - V6
    - Manual transmission
    - 4 wheel drive
    - Tow package

From my reading here, it would appear the Sport is the only currently manufactured version of the Tacoma you can buy with the access cab/V6/MT?

    As well as MT w/AC?

I really like the Sport. Just drove to California and back from Albuquerque and it handled very well, with a trailer, albeit a light one. I took my last Tacoma, a 2015 2.7l 4x4 MT off road quite a bit here in New Mexico without issue, for the vast majority of "off roading" people here do, the Sport is probably MORE THAN ADEQUATE...

I had read that Toyota was doing away with the MT in the access cab online (somewhere, don't remember where). Took a trip to the dealership to verify and was pleasantly surprised to find that this was untrue, so drove off the lot with a brand new truck configured EXACTLY the way I needed.

The V6 has been the biggest surprise! It has more horsepower and torque than the 4.0 V6 in the 2003 Ford Ranger I previously owned. You have to de-rate the horsepower rating 3% for every 1,000 feet of elevation, so I lost nearly 24 horsepower out of the 159 my 2.7l had, and you could feel it up here in Albuquerque...

The cruise control in my 2.7l would kick out on hills, the V6 did not suffer this problem...

I bought a 2021 OR DCSB MT. Didn't really research the difference between the Sport. I liked the OR flat hood and black fender flares better. Never did much off road but then again my previous vehicle was a Honda Ridgeline. Which btw got totaled by a red light runner. No one would no I have an OR because I took off the stickers. I also removed the V-6 badge (because you know, V-6's are so rare) and the Tacoma badges on the doors.

Welcome to the forum, Garry! Yes, currently the only Access Cab with manual transmission in the United States is in the Sport trim. But our friends in the North (Canada) get the Offroad access cab with manual transmission instead of the Sport.
