I recently ran into that blurb in the manual that says you should run some 10 kms every month in 4WD
    ...
In order to abide by this 'requirement', we, of course, went out to the Rubicon Trail.:D

(It happens to be close by...)

    - No, I do not think that this is quite what was intended, but seemed like a good idea!

It was very icy and snowy - and a lot of fun.

I was impressed by the Taco's ability to climb in deep snow, hard packed snow, and full-on slick ice. (It has been relatively warm lately so there is lots of ice).

    :burnrubber:

This was the longest time spent so far in 4LO (and 4Hi for that matter) so I'm covered for a month at least!
Although we may go again next week! :)

We also had that big storm last week... I put some miles on then - all on snow packed, icy, or slushy roads.

Of course, we did not do any challenging portions of the trail. We went up to the first river crossing which had an icy step-up of some 36-40" and although it was better and perhaps manageable a bit off to the side, we did not even consider attempting it... the point was just to play around a bit with the boys and have a bit of fun... They loved it - they 'drove' a bit (while sitting on my lap!)
    :goingcrazy::goingcrazy:

There were a couple of interesting offshoots from the main trail that we tried... spent maybe an hour or two playing...

Looks like Ford has released their own variation of Lunar Rock that they're calling "Cactus Gray"

It looks way more "minty" and a lot less "sage/grey" to me. But LR also doesn't photo very well

    Awe shucks! :humble:(then blushes...)

I am a fan of all the details... but it is the unseen Manual Gearbox that really 'seals the deal'! :burnrubber:

    Thank you! :proposetoast:

You've got quite a looker yourself! (well played!:thumbsup::thumbsup:) I also stressed until I got my grubby hands on mine - Enjoy!

    Thank you :D

I wish I had a manual, but I had to pick between MT or DCLB so had to go with the LB

If they aren't, they are extremely similar in person. (For reference, I have a LR Tacoma and drive past a CG Ranger at the dealership on the way to/from work everyday).

LR is a bit darker than CG. Both are tough colours to get a sense of with photos.

Has anyone seen or has a picture of LR TRD Pro with aftermarket wheels other than black? I'm curious to see how it would look with bronze or even gun metal.

I wanna think that based on how good it looks next to orange/red, the right bronze wheel cool be a stunner!

I'm thinking gun metal will look cool.

I've done some photoshopping [crude copy/paste] of some gun metal and carbon grey wheels that I think could look cool. Not worth sharing here. Hopefully someone can post up a real example.

Even white white wheels might look cool:anonymous:

Waiting on my order/allocation for a LR MT, thought I'd share all of the information I've gotten through various dealers about the current production status, what different dealers are saying, etc since it's been different everywhere I've gone.

These are relevant bits picked from talking with various dealers within the last few weeks - for anyone in a similar boat:

"I will keep an eye out and see if we earned a Pro Tacoma from Toyota with a manual transmission. Each dealer will not know until the 5th of each month when their allocated vehicles hit their inventory. We all have to earn the right to get a Pro based on sales volume. We get about 3-4 manual Tacoma Pro's a year and the rest are automatics."

"[Regarding a timeline] Hard to say anywhere from 2-4 months. They are a limited production, especially in the manual."

"Tacomas are looking to be around 8-9 week range with possibility of being before or after that estimate. But if you are wanting a particular color with specific things already added to it ordeing is the best way to do so so you guarantee it will be yours and exactly what you want no more or no less."

"Typically allocations would be 6-10 weeks out. There are allocations every month which would let us know what we would be receiving. Are you interested in placing an order for a specific TRD Pro? Toyota will try to fill orders that are made but there is no guarantee either way. If you are comfortable waiting then that may be the best option for getting exactly what you want."

"If we special order one for you it usually takes about 8-12 weeks."

"The specific Tacoma TRD Pro you inquired on has been reserved for another customer. The TRD Pro units are in high demand, yet Toyota produces them in limited quantities, making them hard to get your hands on one! If you have your mind set on a TRD Pro, I would suggest placing an order. As of right now, it can take up to 6-months for your order to be placed, filled, and delivered. Let me know if you'd like to move forward with that option."

"The process can be very simple.
    A. we take a deposit and potentially trade for a vehicle that is out there if your comfortable with the MSRP and the mileage or addition costs.
    B. we take a deposit and place an order that could be filled by Toyota this cycle or next cycle. Keep in mind that this is not a perfect system either in the sense that Toyota cannot always fill order immediately based on the parts/ paint they have vs the already scheduled builds. Basically meaning it could be exactly what you want and be to our dealership very quickly or potentially a 3 month process.
    C. we can wait and see what comes out with little control over what comes on the vehicle if we do happen to receive the color allocation."

Finally, this was the latest information I've gotten regarding my order - we'll see how she goes.

That seems to jive (more or less) with what my dealer told me. Allocated once a month, dealers have to earn a Pro, six months possible.

So a mid February build date looks good to me (If i'm reading that screen shot correctly)

That's my interpretation and at least he has something to back up what I'm told. This is a huge exercise in patience.

Agreed. About the same info I've received. I'm trying to get the manual as well.

My dealer had only three Pros come through last year (all autos) but hasn't had any yet for MY21. He was pretty confident he'd land one for me but warned me it could be a while which [I supposeo_O] is fine.

He was able to get the exact 4Runner my wife was looking for in very little time last fall. That's an easier task of course but just trying to say he's been super helpful and honest.

Edit to add: If anyone in Canada is looking for a Lunar Rock with manual I can give you one "for sure" lead and another "likely" lead. Neither are with my dealer. Feel free to PM me.
