At 55 I’m still trying hard not to let the old man in, but after 25k miles my Wildpeaks have gotten loud. I’m realizing that I don’t like it much and can’t just turn the radio up.

This Wildpeak is the most aggressive tire I’ve had. They’ve been balanced and rotated roughly every 7500.... why do tires get loud anyway?

I’m fighting the urge to stow these in the shop and get something else. I’m heading to Utah in May and the idea of listening to these for 5000 miles isn’t appealing. Anyone else in my camp?

Yeah, forgot to mention that I’m already nearly deaf in the left ear now. Still loud.

I like yokohama's mild AT tire for noise. My wildpeaks are quiet for now but I only have 15k on them with a 235/75/15

I hear yea OP, I’m 60 and after 40+ years in the automotive field now retired I couldn’t take my Goodyear Dura Trac’s on my Tacoma anymore. The more they wore the louder they became, worst tire ever. I had to make the change so a nice set of Revo 3’s solved that problem. I’d say if your not happy with them replace, you will have a more enjoyable trip. Just my 2 cents.

Exactly what I needed to hear. I’ll buy a replacement set and ask forgiveness from my bride afterwards.

They have gotten much louder over the last 20k miles. Doesn't bother me much, I just turn the radio up.

I went with the Goodyear Ultra Terrain from Discount rather than the Dura-Max only for the better noise rating.
So far so good but I only have 3,500 miles on them.
I will say that every tire I have bought in the last 6 years I have considered noise rating as the deciding factor, must be a 50yo old thing I am 56

Another vote for Goodyear Ultra terrain. At 8000+ miles they have a nice hum but aren't loud at all. And if it matters. I'm almost 51 and "no loud tires" was a requirement for me too.

When I was in my early 20s I worked at a Goodyear shop I had a K5 blazer with dual exhaust & glass packs I put 35" Goodyear MTs on it, several customers came in & ask if the tires were noisy I said no I can't even here them then I replaced the glass packs with mufflers I couldn't believe how loud those tires were, it's a wonder I didn't get slapped in the back of the head by some of them old guys:smack:

Glasspacks...haven't heard that word since the early 80s. My neighbor had an old Ford and he'd light up the neighborhood with those loud arse things. My Dad had an old international scout with some Safe Mark Big Kick tires. No AC in the scout so we'd be shouting just to be able to talk! Good times. But my ears have been shot for a long time.

I'm 60 & ride a Ducati 1100 Hypermotard with full termignoni exaust & cat delete.......don't bother me in the least (actually pleasant)

My taco with Yokohama Geolander G015's is absolutely ANNOYING as hell!

I'm also considering a tire swap but What? Goodyears suck, BFG's in my history have needed a half pound of lead to balance & never really tried anything else but Coopers & thier heavy.

What's left that's light, balances with reasonable added weight, not $300 each, quiet, not made in China or Mexico & has a half assed warrantee?

I disagree on the Goodyears sucking but that's a story for another time. I'm just here to say friggn awesome on the Ducati. My fast days on a motorcycle are over and now i'm on a "loud" 2 smoker Beta enduro. Huh? :D Sets my tinnitus off but keeps me in shape.

That's funny I have a VMax with a full Hindle 4-1 system and a Honda F6B with cat delete & Rush 2.5" exhaust both are pretty loud but that doesn't bother me a bit, in fact I like it.
    I can not stand tire/road noise:annoyed:
