Question for Op.I don’t have any play in my steering wheel but I have always had feedback in it.When
hitting small bumps or even running over small lane markers I feel it in the steering wheel.Do you know
if it will help that? Thanks

In my experience this is what the zip ty mod fixed for me if only temporarily. Op explains that it seems to fix the same issue. I still haven't tried it yet.

Thanks, Wow I did the zip tie thing and my truck steers great! It has never driven this good.Really wish
I had done this years ago.I thought the truck just drove like that.I think I’ll run the zip tie for a bit and then do the hammer down method.

Yeah it works well. It only lasts so long though before you have to do it again. I've never had play in the wheel but it sounds like yours where you can feel little rocks and stuff in the road, sort of feels like someone tapping the wheel with a small hammer.

Nope! That coupler is still tight. But I did throw a bungie around the wheel to the shifter just to be safe.

For me, the slop that was causing knocking had no correlation to the zip tie being in or not.

There was a gap between the two shafts as you can see in the images. I got the top shaft to move down a solid 1/8". Therefore bringing it further down in the coupler, reducing the overall dimension by a 1/8" eliminating a lot of rattle and slop

Question, I just had to have a new steering rack put in and now driving straight I can move my steering wheel back-and-forth without the wheels moving. Is this the slop that the rest of you are experiencing? And with the zip tie fix or this BFG fix change that? The shop that installed the steering rack said that it felt like my steering shaft was binding. But they couldn’t explain it because the guy who actually did the work wasn’t there that day that I picked it up.

    Extra backup light underneath
so I don't have to go spend good money purchasing an intermediate shaft ( #7)
