I helped(really just watched) my grandfather help his buddy turn an early 90s ford ranger into an ev. Most basic of setups possible; bed full of NiCads industrial motor hookup to stock clutch and 5 speed. Stripped all the vehicle accessories and just did a rheostat from skinny pedal to motor. I think it had a 110mile max lol but this was in the 90s

Sweet. The power electronics have gotten so much better since then, its a lot more straightforward now. Batteries are better too. I don't think it would be that hard to get useful range out of a small truck.

Of course, if I had money...

Debating on calling the non-emergency number to try and save some warm weather dog breeds I saw left outside. I was running through alleys and trails to avoid slipping on the road and I'm fairly certain I saw a couple dead dogs. Usually they bark and freak out when I run by but today one was just laying out in the backyard on some ice. But meanwhile people are trapped out in ditches on the highway so maybe calling the non-emergency number is a waste of resources. We also have a water contamination crisis in town and the elderly can't get to the water distribution areas.
