Is there a difference in ECT mode after the tune?

Right now I really never use it, it just holds on to the gears longer and it just makes cruising the highway annoying when it stays in lower gears longer for minor elevation changes.

 

Here is a good description of our Performance tune.

-Aggressive/predictable throttle response
-Smooth predictable shifting at slightly higher shift points
-Very peppy in gears 1-4, holds 5-6 on highway (for good MPGs)
-More noticeable low end power/torque
-Cruise Control shifting matches primary shifting for improved function
-ECT for a little extra throttle and a little higher RPM shifting--good for towing and Extra performance.
-S mode uses performance shift points and throttle

 

never tuned a truck before, but what would happen down the road if I add a lift, changed gearing etc... would the tune need to be readjusted? If i don't what would happen to the truck? Lack of knowledge and curiosity. Looking for worst-case and how would I get a new tune to match the change?

 

I cant speak for the tuners but I can say that the tune needs to be customized for tires/gears because those are the questions they ask. I dont know how it will affect your drive if you roll with a tune and then upgrade tires and/or gears.

 

A lift wont change anything. Tire size you will be fine on the custom tune. If you change gears then you may need to change tunes. On 4.88's is what I have and I have tested the performance tune with and without gear settings changed and there is a slight change in shift points. But still drives good.Now if you are going 5.29's with 35's i would say re flash to a 5.29 tune. You would need to make arrangements to get the tune file changed.How soon would you be making the changes?

 

It will be a while for regear. I want a lift first.

 

You will be fine. When you do decide to regear then we can maybe make some kind of arrangements to meet up and get you re-flashed!
