Aluminum wouldn't rust though? I have an alum RCI front diff and oil pan skid. Seems to hold up OK with all kinds of abuse and no rust yet.

steel oxidizes in the form of rust

water and oxygen are what cause rust, steel has iron and aluminum does not




at least that is how i understood it from google... i am sure i am missing a part or two

You can. The skid has a little plate that removes (5mm countersunk hex) just like the factory TRD plate.

 

Yeah I’m not using aluminum, I’m steel skids all around.

RCI’s website says the front skid plate is designed to work with it without a diff drop. Now that I have my front skid, I’m finding that not to be the case (I have a diff drop). Anyone else have issues with this?

EDIT:

I solved this. Whoever installed the diff drop had put the bottom part (idk what’s it’s called. Looks like a nipple haha) upside down....nipple was pointing down instead of up. This made the bolt head sit about 1/2 closer to the ground. I flipped it, and all is well.

true but I got my first 2 skids on Black Friday a few years ago at 15% off and got the 3rd in this GB for the same discount. Unless you’re buying sliders or full skids you’re prolly not getting the 20% (and dope if you are!)

 

That's why my buddy and I combined our order. Better discount.

I’m in the same boat, we probably bought during the same Black Friday. Not complaining though, I like the consistency and affordable shipping. It is reasonable for them to offer the better discount on the larger orders, since they still gotta put food on the table.
