THIS. I'm a wanna be racer and have been since my dirtbike days in my youth. But I'll also admit I miss my Dyna and back road riding. I'll have another by end of 21...an old Dyna.

I tried the Harley thing once in 1990........yawn......... it lasted 4 months. Sold it, back then you had to wait 18 months to get one so it went away really fast

I'm on my second set of at3s and over 100k - I'm 35 but maybe I'm more deaf cause I don't have any complaints. Not really helpful... Sorry.

Im 44 and ive been running duratracs on my truck and my old jeep for the last 6 years or so .Great tire but i guess im getting old the hum is starting to bother me. I have alot of tread left but thinking about going to coopers at3 xlt . I also want to upgrade my exhaust to the trd . Id rather listen to the muffler than the hum of the tires. Any input on the coopers? I want a aggressive looking sidewall

Coopers are great tires I've put alot of them on trucks over the years the only reason I chose not to install them on my taco was thier heavy & tacos don't need any more wasted power they already have the aerodynamics of a billboard.

I run Continentals on two Outback’s we have. Quiet and smooth as glass.

I think I’m going to give the Continental Terrain Contact AT a try. I’ve always had good luck with the Continentals.

Not exactly scientific but I was running Hercules tires at 34 psi and they were noisy as hell, threw a set of half worn Cooper's on there and at the same time dropped the pressure to 29 psi - way quieter

I went with Michelin's at the 1st tire change. That was at 45,000. 60,000 on it now. Quiet is the new normal for me. I had Duratrac's on my 2002 Wrangler and they just got louder by the day. So yes people on here do understand and agree.

My first set i put on my tacoma were the wildpeak at3 standard load. I put over 30k on them and never had a complaint about them. They were quiet, balanced great, and had great traction in all weather. Fast forward to now and i have Goodyear ultra terrains now and hate them. Took an ungodly amount of weight to get them to balance out and they suck in the rain, just a light tap of the skinny pedal and the rear tires are spinning. Luckily they arent noisy yet and if they get to be ill be getting rid of them. Im only 34 but i really hate tire noise on any vehicle.

I'm running Hankook Hynapro at2. Quiet at the beginning. After 30k miles they've are a little load. Not bad, but enough to notice. I rotate every 5k miles. They'll get changed out before next fall.

That sounds like a cool bike. Any pics?

I’m 41 and 25 years of guns and loud music has taken its toll. Tinnitus is real.

I have Toyo M55 on my truck. They don’t “woo woo woo woo” like a mud tire they sing like an opera singer belting out C sharp.

I had a set of wildpeaks and rotated every 5000 miles and they never got loud. Replaced at 46k due to tread wear with the same. New ones sounded the same as the old. Maybe rotation pattern matters. I rotated back to front and front criss-cross to back. That way they would rotate in the opposite direction for part of the rotation. If you always keep them on the same side of the vehicle they can start to wear funny and make them loud. Also tire pressure and alignment to keep the tread even.

It's all relative. Back in the 1970's I had this truck with mudder tires. I didn't realize how loud they were until I let my brother drive it into town to run an errand. I was in the yard doing some chores and heard him coming from nearly a mile away when he got back.

    img007.jpg

They get louder as they wear partly because of uneven wear. When that happens flat spots in the tread slap the pavement as they rotate. The guys driving 18 wheelers often use tires near the end of their life on the trailer. If one blows on the trailer they still have 7 more and can usually make it to a truck stop unless they are loaded really heavy. You'll hear those bad boys slapping the pavement from quite a distance.

There is a science behind the tread spacing to keep them quiet. I've never used Falken's, but it isn't unusual for many tires with a much more aggressive tread to be quieter than another tire that looks like it should be quieter. You'll even see that with different street tires.

And then there is the vehicle. I have a much more aggressive tire on my F150 and they should be louder. But the cab of the Ford is simply MUCH quieter inside than my Tacoma regardless of the tires.
