is its seriously doable from the side with a full aftermarket bumper? if so then i am welding mine shut too. havent changed the oil in a Turd gen yet to know but sounds like a great idea.

not the best pic to show it but i took a direct hit on mine. it held but i needed vise grips to get it off to flatten it out.

It’s possible, at least for me, I would first try one oil change and then weld it up if you are cool with it. On my next set of skids I’ll be forced to take them off since there’s no room at all. But that approach angle worth it :p

don't think Tworld is large enough to get discounts, at least not for tints. best we generally get are in the shapes of group-buys and black friday deals.

i bought mine for $699 US (as part of a larger kit but thats the going rate) and didnt have to pay any tax at the border but ordering them here would be almost same at that price. $435 a side has you at <$1000 out the door or less. they ship with bushings and the ubolts you need (assuming you arent running a flip) and they are easy to install yourself. DO IT (and get a flip/bumpstop kit while you are at it).

How thick are the skids? I had my mid skid off yesterday and its getting pretty thin. I'm thinking about bending up a front and a mid

Oh, so I can put the vines and tea pot away then...
4Wp sent me a set of Icon RXT's for a for Raptor, Lol almost blew a nut loading and unloading those things...

Make sure you flip the bolts on the retainers on the driver's side so the bolt heads are on the gas tank side (nut pointing outside) otherwise the tip of the bolt may rub on your gas tank during heavy cornering.
Note the direction of the Hanger bolts too.

Mine don't squeak at all, but I did coat the crap out of them with oil and grease. Was going to put on leaf liners but so far don't need them and have been too lazy to order a set.

Leave everything "snug" until you take the truck of the lift/jack. Torque everything down when the truck is on the ground (and you've moved it back and forth and jumped up and down in the back to settle everything in the proper place)

    Don't forget Locktight.

It'll be interesting to hear from a person that has run both Dakars and Rxt's on the same truck to hear their experience with both. So keep us posted.

I'm currently squeaking on medium dakar pack. Will have to suffer through another year or so as my shopping list for this year is already over 6k.

While we are on the topic of mods:
our trucks have far better approach angle than departure. Why is it that most of you get front aftermarket bumper way before the rear then?

Not practical the first time (threads and O-rings are dry from the factory), doable subsequently.

My BudBuilt skids have a separate front piece and engine skid, so I just remove the front skid for the twice-a-year oil changes. I schedule one of the two oil changes with undercoating, when the skids come off anyway.

Can't speak for anyone else but myself, I got the front first for 2 reasons
    1. winch mount and
    2. As soon as you bolt on a front bumper you are automatically enrolled in the over-lander club.
    3. as a bonus since its an arb, I can go over-landing with the Aussie's :turtleride:
