Anyone make it into Wharton this week? Was possibly thinking of going in on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend but don’t want to get bogged down and stuck in too deep of a mud puddle. Might ruin her first experience with off-roading

You aren’t wheeling in wharton if you aren’t getting stuck in Wharton. That wouldn’t ruin, but rather make it “memorable”, think optimistically

my guess is its snow covered? Can’t see the puddles in snow. And the puddles are lakes as we all know too well look at my profile pic. Found that guy in the lake... he ended up using a canoe paddle to get out LUL.

very nice Jay! One thing I like about having the military trailer is that the frame came with shackles for it already. They used to attach a strap to the humvee behind them and use the trailer to pull

So many trailers online don’t have rear recovery points. I don’t get it

Are those bolt on or weld on points? I’m looking at that design and already picturing it ripping right off the rear tubing. If you’ll be welding I might suggest ones that go all the way through the tube, to weld on both sides.

    something like this

I wish the soft shackle lug was longer to weld both sides of the tube trust me. But gonna make do with it. Prob run a root fill cap multiple passes. The idea isn’t to do snatch recovery missions with it. Just to have some anchor point option, mostly light stuck winching. There’s gonna be a hitch receiver on the rear of the trailer and can always run a hitch pin in there with a strap. These lug anchors will be quick option if I have a hitch basket full of wood or whatever and I don’t wanna take it off to get quickly back on trail. If a big blue deezul 250 shows up to tug me out of a deep bog with a static strap I’ll be sure to unload the wood and hitch basket and prepare for a backiotomy lol

Oh I gotcha. Did not realize that shackle lug was specific for a soft shackle. Makes sense now that I look at the hole design. It will def still work great I’m sure just would be cautious of the full retard rugs like you said lol

Making a small run of recovery points for family and friends. Version 2.0 is slightly longer in the shackle area to account for the radius in the 90 bend. Having a shop bend them on the hydraulic press this time!

frame rail under the bumper. Where the factory recovery hook on an off-road goes. Also not pictured I make an inside plate with nuts welded on so one can mount to the drivers side as well and have two points.
Will have to do until I build a bumper.
