the system with 8 bolts is only as strong as the weakest bolt. I’m not an engineer, but think you would probably be ok with the 4 bolts.

    Right. It’s 1300.
But that doesn’t include mattress or shipping.

    so you’re at 1900.

Ours also has LED’s, will have annex options, you’re able to store pillows/blankets inside. Shoe and storage backs come standard as well.

So yes cheaper, but that thing isn’t a hardshell nor does it have nearly any of the features our UL does. The only thing they have the same is panoramic windows.

Just my 2 cents. Not trying to argue or favor ours. If you like the GFC or any other tent the main thing is you’re happy and using it!

So what is the UL gonna cost after you buy a mattresses, and is shipping included? Comparing OTD costs?

and i already bought the GFC, Ur tent is really nice and yeah the gfc isnt a true hardshell. Still about $700 cheaper and 27 lb lighter. You can store it closed with bedding an pillows inside by the way. I’ve got a baseline shell, no reinforcements, I want to minimize the risk of cracking it while I’m bouncing around on trails. I get that ur trying to sell your tent but chill ur gonna give me buyer’s remorse

That’s the GFC pricing. Just under 2k including their ladder and mattress.

The DA UL comes with more features (plus mattress and ladder). And is presale for 2500. Shipped. Plus there are two different styles. To choose from.

Ultimately it’s up to your budget. I’m just happy people get tents and get to use them. I don’t care who or what brand.

    :annoyed:

Well I was responding to that person about the message he sent.
Doesn’t bother me what tent you get as long as you enjoy it. That’s 100% what I preach.

The other dude lol. Asks for advice then rejects the asked advice.

Personally, I’d never buy the gfc, or any hardshell. Don’t care about setup or aero dynamics. I feel like I get more tent and comfort from my standard RTT for much less.

I’m looking to get a RTT and attach to the top of my Leer 100XR. Any recommendations on a rack? Would the Thule podium system (I have tracks) with square bars be sufficient? Or is the consensus to go with something like a Prinsu top rack? Looking to get as light and low profile tent as I can, hopefully ~100 lbs

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Most tents are going to be 125+ pounds. Plus the rack is another 30 or 40. That being said I have a RTT atop my ARE cap on a Prinsu and have no issues.

Thanks for the input, only reason I’d go Thule is because it’d be cheaper. Maybe the safer way to go would be prinsu

I'm running regular old round Yakima crossbars on the tracks on my Leer with a Tepui tent. They work great, it's plenty strong enough. The prinsu style rack will be a little lower-profile to the roof of the shell.

I’m trying to avoid buying a full rack too, you could add a 3rd crossbar for more stability. Sherpa sells a crossbar system, and theyre not sold by the pair so u can order 3

    edit:
Here’s the link, this is how Im gonna mount mine
