It was actually about the same at 18-19 before the super cold, which during the winter is what i got on the factory tune.

Yes totally! I can watch my gas gauge drop when I lead foot it getting on the freeway. Serious difference. I need to take out my trailer and try it towing. I am about 5100 going camping.

I usually average 19-21 mpg and over the last couple of days running the premium TKO, I managed to average 19.4mpg and I have definitely been on the accelerator a ton on that last tank. I’m willing to bet that if I can manage to drive like my usual conservative self I’d probably be seeing 23mpg. I’ll let you know what this new tank comes back with.

    Absolutely.

I had a tune built by @Mooseditty17 that ran great but kept giving me a damn CEL due to my dump tubes no matter what I tried. The mpg on his tune wasn't bad by any means, but not as good as the Kruiser tune which I tried on a whim just to see if the CEL came on after 50 miles. No CEL and by far the best MPG and drivability the truck has ever pulled off.
PapaRee has generously provided me with the updated versions for the meager donations I send him.
Currently on 3.6 but with imported airflow tables from 4.0. (Turns out editing the tables isn't that difficult at all, even on a shitty 4 year old laptop. I would barely remember how to use windows at all if I didn't have OVTune cuz I've ben on a Mac since 2005).

Anyway, I am now consistently in the land of 19-20 city/hwy, 17/18 all city, and 20-21 all highway. Truly have never been happier with my truck on the Kruiser tune. Aces.

I loaded PapaRee’s Kruiser tune and pretty happy with it. I’m on 33s with stock gearing and regular fuel. The tune seems very smooth. There’s power there but it feels more polished then some of the tunes I’ve used in the past. I went on 100 mile trip with mixed interstate, highway and even gravel road. Thanks PapaRee and you other tuners out there and keep up the good work.

Just trying to understand tire size in the available tunes from Matt. If the vf tunes do not adjust for speedometer errors, are we really talking about weight? I have flashed my '19 TRD Off-Road (04B31) with 3 different stock tunes looking for the sweet spot for turning a set of Black Rhino Armory rims with 235/85R16 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's mounted on them. Total weight is 81# per wheel. Currently running a tune for 35's. Looking for any advice on tune selection. Thanks

This is the reason @PapaRee is the man!! He and others on TW have shared tunes/information tweaking and fine tuning them so they work for everyone. I truly believe some of the best tunes have and will continue to come from this community! Shame on those people making money off their hard work and experimentation.

I've had a user warn me against using my Pedal Commander, but I've been running @PapaRee 's premium Kruiser tune and because I'm an insane person I decided I still want more throttle. So, I turned on City mode on my Pedal Commander for the first time since trying out new tunes, and now Kruiser feels beyond god tier. Who needs Magnuson's new supercharger anyway when a bad ass ECU flash coupled with a throttle module will get the job done just as well?

The question about the pedal commander is
does it ADD to the existing target or just replace it?
if it replaces it, it just takes *whatever* the tune wants and replaces it with its pre-programmed "response" values.
if it adds to it, it takes the stock value and adds on top, which could get crazy

I’m reasonably certain that it adds to the “stock” response. The way I understand how the PC works compared to every other throttle module is that it in real-time tricks the throttle into believing that pedal is depressed further than it really is. I believe this is also why the PC can be changed on the fly with the touch of a button versus actually plugging into the OBD2 port and adjusting the throttle that way. I think for 99% of the folks who drive a Tacoma, they would hate how touchy my truck is with PapaRee’s tune on the City PC setting.

Inversely, putting the PC in Eco mode and even turning it to -4 value puts the throttle in chillax mode for this tune and is easier for winter weather driving like today in my neck of the woods.

I am not brave enough to put the PC in Sport or Sport+ with this tune during this cold weather. That simply can’t be drivable. But I will certainly try on the first sunny, warm day.

Btw, I have an appointment Wednesday with a local dynometer shop. I get three pulls per $100. I’m going to run PapRee’s premium Kruiser first since it’s already on my ECU. And maybe the stock 04B33? Do we have any other well beloved tunes that we want charted data for?

I’ll have two open pulls if we have two here we’d rather see besides stock.

I’ll be running 93 octane, 04B33 calibration ID, and stock wheels and tires.

That's awesome!! I'd love to see what kind of numbers we get out of our tunes. Run whatever you want man, it's your $
Maybe a premium vs a regular of the same file...

I have a 04b33 tune that pretty damn solid if you want to run it. A ton of changes from 2.0 but similar to Kregs tune I believe.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards Prem. Kruiser, Reg. Kruiser, and stock in that order. I think I know I for sure want Prem. Kruiser (I call TKO lol) and stock. I've seen from Magnuson that most stock 3rd gen Tacoma's dyno around 210-230hp/190-210ft-lbs to the ground under average conditions with regular fuel usually producing the lower end numbers and 91+ the higher (weight and wheel size obviously impact those figures negatively). Since I have an InJen CAI and Flowmaster catback installed, I'm curious if both of those company's claims holdup (or close to it). If so then stock I'm guesstimating my truck is able to put down ~240-250hp/220-230ft-lbs. With TKO, based on some results tonered shared with me a while back regarding the prior performance tune from OVtune (correct me if I'm wrong, tonered), I would assume PapaRee's tune performs similarly and if so then I'm potentially putting down close to stock engine horsepower to the ground depending on how the tune is utilizing the extra air flow from my CAI, if at all - probably isn't lol

Likewise, I could be utterly wrong and end up producing stock figures all the way around. I do think it's at least reasonable to assume a pretty solid (+10%) power gain across the entire power band on TKO based on the way it feels during acceleration alone. Red-line on TKO is around 6700-6900rpm too - which is pretty bad ass. So, we know there's obviously power gain at the end of the power band if nothing else.
