$300 really isn’t that bad for that install. Folks have told me shops in the Birmingham area quote from $4-500 for a CMC

If I was a little more experienced at welding I’d help you out for next to nothing as long as you came to me. I just enjoy doing fun shit lol. Maybe one day. I plan on burning in some stuff on my truck though. Also help out fellow TW Members is nice. Man there are some greedy people out there. People who charge 4-500 for cab mount chop should be ashamed of themselves. I got quoted 400 from southern Offroad and a quoted Somme other ridiculous prices for stuff that was no where near the amount they wanted.

I wouldn’t ever take my truck to southern OR even if they were cheap. 4-500 is ridiculous for a CMC.

Welding isn’t a cheap thing to do though. Materials and consumables add up quick

I hate that place lol. That was back when I knew nothing basically. Yea I was talking more along the lines of labor cost. As long as material used and a little for time is paid for all’s good. Never would I charge someone or especially a buddy 3-500 for a CMC! I think $100 could cover it no problem

So sounds was the metal on metal skids...... haha but ball joints and tie rods needed to be replaced anyways so goo that’s gonna get done. Just took my skids off because of a suggestion from a member on Tacoma world and Lord have mercy turn the wheel no noise drove around the block no noise put the skid back on noises back so I’ll just get some kind of isolator pad to get rid of the noise

It's the EC even with a good 4:1 t-case you're still going to need to give it hell sometimes just due to trail conditions.

this is also true. Muddy trails require a little more momentum

Fuck my friends, I still charge their ass labor because this work is exhausting lol

Granted it’s a much lower rate, but still. I’ve set that precedent from the beginning so I don’t get taken advantage of. Unless it’s like a CLOSE friend. Or if I feel like volunteering my time because the project will be fun.

Yep they sure do gotta give it all the horsepressures and a litte woopow on top. That being said it'll be fun to get my verso case in and have 4:1 being my main case and the 2.7 being the "doubler" or run that if I want to carry more speed vs wheel speed. Need all the choices for low gear.

That’s just me guessing a number I think that’s what he charged for welding on some sliders and did a shitty job, only did three legs of the four.
I enjoy doing all my truck stuff that I can or have time too, I could grind all the old off. Yea I always enjoy helping out any fellow tw member that I can.

Yeah exactly. I have some friends that’ll be right there with a grinder and I barely charge them anything, just beer money. And other friends who don’t help at all because they’re not as mechanically inclined. Which is fine, sometimes it’s more effort than it’s worth to babysit them. I just charge a bit more.

If I didn't score the Verso case this would be the route I'd go.
