I also removed the valve covers to install the DTLTs. Gives you more room to work.

 

I remove mine to rotate the tires. No point in making a jack lift all that extra weight if it doesn't have to

 

Lexus LS motor is all running and done. What a crazy engine to deal with and not to excited if this is what’s coming in the new tundra motor.

 

Adding motor oil after an oil/filter change is super simple when i pour oil over the valvetrain with the valve covers removed.

Dont need no funnel on that skinny filler neck and I dont worry about spillage.

 

What motor was this exactly? And what did that nice shiny one go into that you said was a special project

 

I’ve been eyeing the rumored LS F with the V8TT that’s supposed to be announced toward the end of the year. Tundra pricing hasn’t tempted me enough to buy one yet.

 

Also Ruthenium plugs feel good. But also might be now that I have 6 working plugs compared to 3 of before

it was but I kept it between the lines and didn't curb anything. it was basically driving on ice, tomorrow though I don't know.

 

It’s a 3.5 twin turbo. It’s a ls500. This was the special project lol. Had to put it all back together. Nothing fun just stock stuff. But can see lots of areas for more power. It has a electronic wastegate actuator. Easily
Tunable I figure for more boost. And so many air restrictions that can make it flow so much better.

 

Was it operator error or engine failure from manufacturing? I always wonder with factory boosted engines if they'll last as long as the prior NA generation.

 

Slow is safe when it's that bad.

 

I like TRAC OFF, 4-HI and 2nd gear in intersections...
Makes for quick U-Turns.

 

Factory boosted engines sometimes are even better than prior NA gens. At least in the M3’s it’s been like that

 

I don’t know, that high revving V8 was pretty awesome

 

Except changing rod bearings and having to wait until oil was completely up to temp sucks. Also 10w60 oil is a pain to find.

 

Yeah BMWs are moody, but hot!

 

Friend has a E90 M3 and I have an F80. Between us both we have pretty much every specialty tool for BMW lol
