Yeah they can be aimed as low as you want. However, when aimed properly they won’t be obnoxious to others.

Oh I get stuck waiting plenty often too! But if me holding stock helps encourage folks to use me I’m gonna do it!

@memario1214, what's the easiest/cheapest way to upgrade from sports to pros? Buy just the pods and reuse the tacoma mounting brackets (i've got them in the stock bumper)

Are you planning on keeping both sets of pods?

I just want to chime in here that Colton (@memario1214 ) is an awesome dude to buy from and his current sale is killer.

Speaking as one who had the Pro fogs and upgraded to the Max - both in selective yellow - you can definitely run the Max - aimed all the way down on a non-lifted truck on the street. Yes, there is more up-light than the Sport or Max, but I didn't find it all that bad and only got flashed once or twice. Great lights!

Why did I upgrade to the Max? Well, power corrupts and absolute power is kind of neat. And the Max is flat out awesome. Add the that the tighter beam pattern and I've only been flashed once.

In summary, the Sport is probably more than enough for most people. The Pro is more powerful, but you don't want these if you run your fogs all the time. The Max is just flat out unbelievable, but again, don't run them all the time. For NC fog though (and I've driven in it), the more powerful SS3's would be better.

BTW, Colton is absolutely awesome to deal with and the fact that he has some in stock makes this a no-brainer.

Negative. I would likely sell the sports after the swap.

Thanks for the great response! I think for me it's more of what do I need vs what do I want. I think the Sports will be plenty enough for where I live. Now if I was up north or out midwest somewhere that gets brutal winters, then I would most likely go with Pros.

@crashnburn80 do the pros actually beat the max with a flood optic? Or max still wins?

I see it as a simple decision tree:

    1. I care about ice melting for my fog lights
    2. I have a limited budget for my fog lights

    No, yes = sport
    Yes, yes = pro
    Yes, no = max
No, no = pick sport or max based on specifics like 4000k option or desire to run on road all the time in urban environments.

    Aww... :fistbump::hattip:
Well... Here's what my gut is telling me. Based off of demand for these products I anticipate that if you pull the sport kit in its entirety and just sell it on here for $150ish it'll move with relative velocity. Then you won't have to worry about cracking open any of the lights to swap bezels, etc.

I haven't compared the Pro vs Max floods. By the published specs the Pros come out slightly ahead, a flood optic on a Max is a waste and certainly not worth the extra $200 for the Max in that case. The Max is only slightly higher in lumen output than the Pro, where the Max strength comes in is using the smaller emitters, which give it much better focus which increases the output intensity. But in the case of a distributed pattern like flood, that better focus doesn't help since the pattern is not focused and the larger Pro emitter is actually more ideal. For flood, Pro is the way to go.

Want to borrow a flood lens to appease the masses? Got a couple flavors should you desire.

Appreciate the offer, but my backlog is already pretty deep. Flood lights are pretty far off course for my lighting threads, in this case I’d go by spec.

I’m glad I saw this. I was waiting to confirm my tax return and planned on placing an order at the end of the month. This sale was great timing. I just placed an order for the max fogs in selective yellow. I’m really excited to see how bright they are in person and see how they supplement the ultimate hl mod. They’ll be replacing BD squadrons so it will be good to use the fogs on the road again. Now, what to do with the Baja’s...

Thanks again crash for all the lighting knowledge you bring and thanks Colton for the great price.

I happen to have the Max Selective Yellow fogs (from Colton) with the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade. You simply will not believe the amount of usable light on the ground and the fact that properly aimed, you will not bother oncoming drivers.

Those things just look sick! I know everyone uses their trucks for different purposes and have different reasons for why they get the modifications they do. For me, I need my fogs to be usable on the roadway where 95% of my driving takes place, and to not be a nuisance or detriment to other drivers on the road. The sharp cutoff's were my main concern over power output, thus why I went with the Sports over the Pros. I would've loved to have the Max's but those just aren't in my budget right now. Glad you have them and love them though, and thanks for your input along with the other lighting guru's in helping the rest of us in making educated decisions.
