so once this massive honey-do list is done .... whats the big upgrade to the truck? SAS? I mean you've earned a much higher spending limit on your truck parts purchases i assume. haha

I Decided to start on my build. I’m going to get the stock tcase crossmember out and weld in the new one with 3link brackets and install dual cases and shorten the rear driveshaft. That’s a good chunk to get out of the way before swapping the front.

I like the solo kit, but I like that the JDfab kit pushes the hub forward 3/4”
That’s what I’m leaning towards for my 1st gen

I will think it’s a huge bummer you’ve had to start over again. But I really enjoy following along with your updates.

In today's installment of pay to play. I also broke another 8" limit strap but that's a much cheaper fix. For the tire I ordered up some Rema cold vulcanizing compound. Since no one will hot vulcanize anymore it's my next best option.

Should probably also get a patch inside. Nobody does sidewall or outer tread fixes either.

Soo... made a few steps further the last couple days.

Finished family room floor... and then started moving everything out of living room to family room.
    IMG_20210214_204725_688.jpg

Then started tearing out the old and prepping for new.

    IMG_20210214_204725_726.jpg IMG_20210214_204725_731.jpg IMG_20210214_204725_735.jpg IMG_20210214_204725_737.jpg

Then we finished the living room

    IMG_20210214_204725_740.jpg IMG_20210214_204725_745.jpg

Also cleared out the 2 spare bedrooms to get one ready for more laminate :frusty:... and the other ready for carpet.

The room with laminate is going to get a bead board wainscoting (because I like to beat the shit out of myself). The room with carpet is getting new 5.25 base board to match the rest of the house.

I'll be ready for a break tomorrow.

The cold vulcanize forms a single patch on both sides. I'll cut out the sidewall gouge that is about 1" x 1". Then step bit a 1/2" hole in the center of the gouge. Then clean and rough up the area around the hole/gouge. There's a primer that goes on first. Then you mix the cold vulcanizing compound like you would mix JB WELD or any 2 stage epoxy. Then it gets pushed into and through the hole and spread thin on both sides. Once that's done it needs to cure for 24 hours at 60F or warmer. My wife is gonna love seeing that tire in the gear room for 2 days. lol
