Cap installed today ! Accidentally got the evoA and got to say I quite like it, off-road alliance took care of me after one very short phone call.

Nothing like that I called them and they refunded the difference in price, I ordered mine back when the evo a wasn't available and after installing it I like the security and greater versatility of the evoA over the original. They were incredibly quick to answer on the phone and directly got in touch with someone. So I'm very impressed with off-road alliance.

Glad we were able to get you taken care of glad you like the cap! Sounds like the RSI warehouse might have shipped the wrong one by accident. In the end, sounds like this was a happy accident! If there's anything else we can do please let us know.

Saw my first RSI in the wild over the weekend during a ski trip to Park City. I should have grabbed a pic for TW. Looked great. If the owner is on here, nice setup.

I’m probably not the only Parkite with a Smartcap, but did you see a Cement long bed? I installed mine about 3 weeks ago. Really happy with it so far!

Fit is really good, seems pretty watertight so far. Use a torque wrench when you are tightening the end caps! You really have to compress the foam gasket.

I will say the latches and locks freeze really easily, but that’s my only complaint so far.

OffroadAlliance was great to work with to get me setup with it. I’d 100% recommend ordering through them.

This could have been you, but I could have sworn the one I saw had a rack up top. Were you driving a block off of main street on Wednesday or Thursday (forget which day)?

I can't throw muddy ass duck decoys or a super wet muddy dog, or my wet salty dive gear, etc. in the back of a 4Runner and then hose it out when I get home.

I wanted the utility of a truck with the security of an SUV.

All my trucks have had shells. I wouldn't do it anyother way.

Just an FYI the warranty service from RSI is incredible. The rear hatch came in with a scratch on the panel, rather than sending touchup paint they are sending a replacement door expedited.

The RSI caps weigh in at around 180/185lbs. If you're going to be doing a lot of off roading where the bed could flex and/or adding additional weight to the cap itself (ie RTT, racks, gear, etc), adding in a set of bed supports isn't a bad idea to help the bed maintain it's rigidity. Absolutely necessary? No. But it's a relatively low cost insurance policy against bedside flex.

6FF014B1-C3D3-47BF-B720-98BA6A797DC7.jpg Thanks to this thread and off-road alliance I went with the EVO on my DCLB. Couple of things to note. It’s a PITA to assemble in cold weather but super easy at the same time, I was concerned about the windoor being too short, it looked strange in some of the pictures in the and other RSI threads, in real life it’s perfect and all areas of the bed are accessible. I was worried that the color was grayish not black, but it is black. Pulling the stickers when it warms up. I think RSI should do gloss black logos instead of the red/white deal. Haven’t had issues with the locks with respect to ice but expect it no different than the leer I had on my 05 tundra, ice is ice. RSI shipped without a harness but has been responsive with great customer service along with Tyson and Andy at OA.

    all in all super pleased

How are you liking the EvoA? What led you to get the RSI over any of the fiberglass toppers?
Would you mind adding a few more pictures of the inside?

So far I'm liking it quite a lot, in my opinion it makes the truck look a bit more aggressive, love the extra space the topper allows, the molle on the side panels opens up all sorts of possibilities but i havent quite figured out what im going to be placing there. I figure the molle will sort its self out as i go camping with it in the spring and over the summer and will be evolving. I really appreciate the extra security the steel doors provides over window-ed doors.

As far as why the RSI, I wanted something stronger than fiberglass as i do a fair bit of offroading as well as the extra weight capacity of the roof over fiberglass options. I appreciate the rigidity and strength the steel provides. The roof vent was a huge selling point for me as we intend to haul our pups in the back from time to time as well as helping to keep dust out of the bed. The threaded holes (intended for mounting the stow-away table) inside the cap also give me some flexibility for mounting different things I was considering inside the cap beyond lighting. Pricing wasn't too far off the fiberglass models I was considering once I had spec'd them out comparably, however, I feel the RSI just looks alot better. It certainly is a premium product, with premium finish but of course comes with a premium price. I was also considering RLD and an AluCab but amongst those the pricing was fairly similar but the RSI looks alot better once more.

I'd be happy to take some more pics tomorrow when there's better lighting, and I've realigned canopy (i mounted it ever so slightly slanted on the bed, up near the front its about 5mm closer to the cab on one side vs the other, silly i know).

Here's one pic I took right after mounting (sorry its blown out, not the best lighting):

So has anyone put on any roof racks other than the RSI ones? I went through the first 12 pages of this thread and didnt notice anything.

Thank you for the detailed reply! I think im on the EVOA. It was never a question i was going to go with an aluminum shell over a fiberglass for all the reasons you stated. The difference in price is a no brainer and the weight difference is icing on the cake. I have been torn for months over which company to go with but RLD looks weird having the two side doors on the long bed version and he AluCab uses a rubber hinge which i am not a fan of for security reasons. I think RSI having the cab sliding window and molle panels standard options really sets it apart from the competition.
Whenever you can get the extra pictures will seal the deal because i can find anything online about the EVOA, all i find is info about the EVO Sport.
