how to wire extra lights?

I want to do a mod to my taco and add some lights to the lower part of the bumper; however, I really don't know how I would get power to them.

How does everyone here generally wire auxiliary lights? Also, do you just run the ground wire for a switch or what?

Wire from your battery to a switch, wire from switch to light, light to ground. If the switch has a built in light the switch will need a 3rd wire going to ground.

 

Its best to use a relay.

A relay has four prongs: constant hot, switched hot, ground, lights.

Do you put a ring terminal on the battery and go from there, or is there some other way of connecting to the battery?

 

Yea just hook it to the battery terminal somehow.

ut a ring terminal on the battery with an in line fuse...run power to relay, ground to relay, out from relay to lights and 1 wire from switch or headlight to relay

Thanks, one final thing...

I just want to have the switch mounted in the panel under the radio, how would I wire that, not including the main light switch?

 

you mean u want the new light just to work on the switch your mounting under radio???

Did you already buy your lights? Othewise just buy a kit that comes with the wiring harness and relay.

 

take your power from the acc box "under driver seat" run a power wire like 16/18 gauge to switch then run another wire from switch to relay......run a 12 gauge wire "depending on what wattage your running" from the battery to inline fuse then to relay...a ground to relay...and last a wire from relay to lights..
sounds like alot but its nothing $20 bucks from radioshack and your set

I just ran the switch power directly off the engine fuse box by crimping on a blade connector, and hooking onto one of the open blade connections (there are several).
