Maintenance For Toytec Ult Kit and TC UCAs???

I tried to search but couldn't find anything...used toytec and maintenance as keywords....

I put on the Toytec ultimate kit with AAL several months ago along with Total Chaos UCAs. When I installed all of this I greased the zerks and sprayed some marine lubricant on the uniball. That was several months ago...

-What maintenance is required for this setup?

-Do I need to regrease the zerks and uniball?

-If so, how often?

Is there anything else I need to do to maintain this setup? re-torque bolts, etc

Give the zerks a little grease every now and again...just one or two pumps per zerk per oil change should be fine (do your driveshafts while you have the grease gun out).

The uniballs I would hit with lube more often...I usually do mine after each wash...remember, teflon based lube on the uniballs...


If you wheel regularly, re-torquing your suspension every 6 months or so is a good idea.

 

^x2 and don't forget to throughly clean the uniball before using the dry teflon.

As for the rear, if it squeaks you could put some grease between the anti friction pads or some use bicycle tubes.

haha. No. He's saying don't use lube as in from the grease gun because it attracts dirt and the dirt will wear the ball or cup faster. Use a dry lube. Dupont Dry Teflon is the only one I know of and it's available at Lowes.

Not a high-stress application like u-joints, so just enough to keep it fresh...1 or 2 pumps per zerk.

Don't overgrease. If you see the urethane bushings "mushrooming" out, that's too much. Stick the head of the zerk with a paperclip if this happens so that excess grease can release and ease the pressure.

IIRC TC says to keep them lubed with a dry lube. I like to wash thoroughly (glancing spray of water with some mild pressure) and then hit them with a coat of DuPont Teflon spray lube, which sets up as a dry wax. This wax catches most of the shit that would otherwise go into the uniball and then gets blasted off at the next wash. May help keep contamination down.

 

That's what I do. Hit them up with the hose then use a clean paper towel because the hose doesn't get everything.

The dry teflon doesn't "hold" the dirt it doesn't let the dirt stick to it.

If teflon cookware has taught us anything, something will manage to stick to everything. PLus, by nature of the shape of the uniball, shit is going to pile up on top of it.

I agree with you though, it's nothing like oil based lubes, and not porous like graphite lubes. Definitely the best dry lube I've found yet.

I'd like to amend my recommendations. I ran my UCA bushings dry after about 2 months with pretty regular wheeling (1 trip every ~2 weeks). If you flex the truck out a lot, grease more often...say a couple pumps per zerk every 3 months.
