Another thing you can do if you’re scared you’re stuck holding a pump and a dump is coming use the call $$ to buy a put. Collar positions. They are a great way to lock in profits.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Here is an order I set up to test... there is a commission fee of $6.95

    upload_2021-2-15_7-17-11.jpg

And I'll be damned there is a commission on the the order I placed on the 11th as well.

Commission on EVERY otc order no matter what size..So don't go buying 10 shares...I was mad at myself for buying 200 shares of LIACF a few months ago when I realized there was a commission...I make it a point to buy at least $500 worth in that case.

That was just a test. I still don't know why it didn't show that when I purchased them originally.

It's sort of misleading...Basically every day they shave a fraction of a % off of the share price...
So on friday it closed at $98.42 and then they take the "Daily Fee" and the share price is the expense ratio of 0.95% It's a marginal fee on such a wildly trading fund. If you bought 1 share at $98.42 today and the stock did nothing for 1 year you would have 98.42-( (98.42*.95)/100) or $98.42-0.93499= $97.48501 after 1 YEAR.
The daily fee is Share price - (Share price * (0.95/252)/100) because there are 252 trading days in 2021...So the daily vig is like 0.00377%
    ETF Fees

As part of its normal operations, an ETF company incurs expenses ranging from manager salaries to custodial services and marketing costs, which are subtracted from the NAV.

Assume an ETF has a stated annual expense ratio of 0.95%. On an investment of $50,000, the expected expense to be paid over the course of the year is $475. If the ETF returned precisely 0% for the year, the investor would slowly see his $50,000 move to a value of $49,525 over the course of the year.

The net return the investor receives from the ETF is based on the total return the fund actually earned minus the stated expense ratio. If the ETF returns 15%, the NAV would increase by 14.15%. This is the total return minus the expense ratio.

    Yup, that's why I said typically ...

... one may certainly make an exception when something is deeply undervalued and certain events suggest a likely positive price progression for a period of years...

Im in my 20s, plan on contributing the max for my Roth each year. If I can get 20% a year return, this calculator says I’ll have 70 million in the bank. Nice that’s my goal

I thought NRGU was a reflection of the underlying companies. And their share value is affected but not completely by oil price - so oil price could go up, but the companies (XOM, CVX, etc) go down due to other things.

    use 10%.

    8% is basically a guarantee.
10% is normal and what you can expect, you can build your plans around this relatively comfortably.
12% is good, and you can actually expect this but I wouldn't plan around this.

    https://www.calculator.net/investme...0&ciadditionat1=annually&printit=0&x=100&y=22

Assuming you're 25 and retire at 65, and have zero bucks now - that's 44 mil at 20%.

    12% is 4.6
    https://www.calculator.net/investme...6000&ciadditionat1=annually&printit=0&x=0&y=0

VIGIX is one of the better returning funds:
    https://investor.vanguard.com/mutual-funds/profile/performance/vigix/cumulative-returns

PS - Do the math, and then do the math cutting off contributions after 10-15 years. You'll be surprised how much time helps more than additional contributions later on down the road. Invest heavy now. Top out your roth and traditional IRAs, top out your 401k as much as possible, top up an HSA, etc etc etc.

I did that, my retirement at 60 is all set. I am aiming for 50 so that bridge account from 50-60 is just an individual taxable account, THAT is what I need to work on more now.

It is, but the cost of crude has a effect on the oil companies profit/stock. I watch WTI throughout the day, and the ups and downs correlate with NRGU's price.

Yup - definitely an effect, but long term I'm just saying that an energy company isn't necessarily only going to be tied to oil. Exxon, for example, is starting to explore other energy stuff.

    https://corporate.exxonmobil.com/Ne...o-commercialize-emission-reduction-technology

(I only know XOM more so because that's the one I own right now, but I'm sure all the big ones BP, CVX, etc are all doing similar).
