Or when they think there's a speed limit to how fast you can go while in 4wd.

I use 4lo way more often than 4hi and regularly cruise in 4lo/4th gear on some trails... Just easier than having to stop to go from low to high and high to low. 4lo is much easier on the clutch when offroad. For guys with autos I'm sure they use 4hi more often

    Fuck.

Do you have a breaker bar long enough you can try turning the engine over by hand? Make sure it's not bound up?

Maybe check the inspection window by the bell housing to make sure its clear? Your video really made it sound like something was bound up

Gotta say I love my Tacoma for what it is but the old Jeep Quadrack system was the next best thing to a monster truck.

The speed limit thing kills me, I do what you do and cruise in 4th on a trail in 4lo as well

I've never had an auto 4x4 so I don't know how they behave on a trail

Start following wires I guess. Somethings gotta be broken or loose. A multimeter would help.

Snow time.. I took it up on Pettit Jean Mountain for some fun. The Harrop eLocker made a big difference. I think it is well worth the investment.

At one point, I backed into a hole and had one front wheel off the ground. The rear wheels were spinning with one down in a hole. Locked the front and it pulled out.

I get less jerking and it pulls straighter when the front is locked when running through ruts and drifts.

Just aim it in the direction that you want to move and let it eat.

That is freaking awesome! So glad you've got the front locker as well.. is it the harrop you're talking about?

Your success makes me want to go through with locking the front for sure

I only know because anytime I do trail runs most of the others have autos and they'll mention they only used 4lo on certain sections and I'm like...yeeeah I was in 4lo the entire time

That's also why I usually take the back of the group unless I'm leading

It would really help. If it was me I would remount the starter and put a multimeter on the solenoid, then have your girl turn the key making sure you get 12v across the contacts

Torque converters make a pretty big difference, they don't need low nearly as much. At least until they overheat anyway.

That looks like fun, wish we were getting more snow in the mountains this year out this way.

Yeah been a few occasions where we've had to stop and let someone with an auto trans cool down. I assume it's because they were doing the harder sections in 4hi probably

I was just guessing cause most other vehicles are good for 4Hi up to 55mph.

But now I just had to confirm out of curiosity -

Must've been my Frontier that said don't shift to 4Hi over 55mph?
