Yes my suspension is upgraded. That was the first mod. Stock suspension left much to be desired. Yes the payload is different on the engine size. My truck is the 4.0 v6 and it came the with tow package. Can’t remember the exact weights of payload and towing. Weight is a big factor when choosing a build. This is why I lowered my gears to 4.88. Full-size pickups can carry more but I didn’t want one.

Awesome pix and I love this camper. I actually grew up on Lake Powell and miss it dearly but would REALLY like to buy one of these campers so that I have another excuse to hit up some awesome lake camping. Would love to hear more about this setup of yours.

Why did you add the caps? I'm getting my ovrlnd camper in a few weeks and want to do the basic mods prior to getting the shell on. I am doing bed stiffeners.

It was Jay's idea to add the kb voodoo. I do a lot of offroading and he said that the kb voodoo would offer a more stable platform. It is definitely worth the investment over the stock ones. The stock ones are cheap plastic and when I had them on with my Leer shell they would shift and flex under rough driving conditions.

To add to the OEM Factory caps, they are the main source of water leaks inside a cap/topper...Prior to installing my KB voodoo I covered all the holes on the bed side with aluminum tape & then used stick on weather strip under the KB voodoo....I eliminated the water leaks......

The third gen caps are considered to be an improvement over the second generation in terms of durability. Seal underneath them and you should be fine.

Finally made the electrical more permanent and added foam board insulation. I have been super lazy with the mods. Still need to organize the wires.

I have been toying with the idea of adding a petrol heater like espar or webasto. I like the idea of tapping into the gas tank. Anyone have experience adding an auxilary fuel line off the gas tank?

Hey guys, Following build threads for popup campers. Busy paying off house (5 more payments...WooHoo) and paying for 3rd Gen Taco DCSB. But soon I will be saving for a camper. I have narrowed it down to the Vagabond Drifter and the Ovrlnd model. Not much info collected on the Ovrlnd and their website leaves much to be desired. I was wondering how you guys/gals like your Ovrlnd campers and any regrets? I wish the wait times were shorter. Thanks for any info.

I have an ovrlnd on an f150 (gasp i know). had gfc before so i can speak to the wedge but not the vagabond. i love the ovrlnd so far. only had it for 6 months but it's been great. love the vertical side walls plus vertical pop, gives a ton more room. definitely (even) less aero than the vagabond so that could be a small draw back. I imagine build quality is pretty similar. jay and the guys down in flag really are doing a great job putting these things together. i haven't had any qc issues thus far and from what i have heard from a good friend that ordered a vagabond, it seems the customer service at ovrlnd is worlds better. i had a bunch of questions during the ordering process and after about various things i was planning to do aftermarket. Jay has probably spent 4 or so hours on the phone answering all those questions and more. my friend that ordered a vagabond eventually sold his spot because he kept getting pushed back in production and almost never heard back from them when he contacted them, so there is that to consider too. if you have any more specific questions, id be happy to answer. where are you located? if anywhere close to boise, id give ya a tour.

I really enjoy all of the room in the Ovrlnd from the pop top. I guess it depends if you want a wedge or a pop top. I have seen a few vagabonds in person and the build quality looks similar to the Ovrlnd. If you are camping with a partner and dogs maybe choose the pop top. If I you are solo you might want the wedge. Both are great options and I'm sure you will be stoked with either one.

OVRLND all the way. They’re built by guys you can actually get ahold of, and their wait times are honest the first time around. Even with covid mine was only delayed about 3 extra weeks. Freaking love the camper, mine stays on my truck full time. Here it is towing all my belongings for our last move, they’re built so light my truck could still drive the speed limit on mountain passes with a 3000 lb trailer!
