    Hi everybody,
I just got new wheels and tires put on my 2010 tacoma trd off road. On the way home after service, I hit 70 mph on the highway but the truck couldn't find top gear? Ran at 4000+ rpm doing 70 when it's usually around 2000?
Has anyone had this experience? Did it correct itself, or is there an actual issue?

Also, anybody ever have their tailgate lock up on them? One side opens the other does not?

    lol at your screen name..

Whats in your truck? The V6 or the 4 cylinder? Sure you were actually in OD? Did they do any other service on the truck while it was there?

If you have the 1GR-FE with the A750F it sounds like you were in 3rd gear at that speed.

6cly -16 inch wheel. I wasn't in 3rd. I actually dropped down to 4th and back to drive just to make sure. No change in rpms unless I let off gas.

So did they do any other work to the truck while it was there, or just tires? Any other issues you're noticing?

Any leaking fluids after being parked last year?

None, in a garage, that would be easy to spot.

No other issues, just something new I haven't dealt with before. That and the tailgate, but I'll get that done when I find my t30 wrench

1GR-FE is the V6 engine in these 2005-2015 trucks. The A750F is the 5 speed automatic transmission that is found in the 4WD V6 trucks of that same era. Like I said that sounds like 3rd gear at those speeds

I actually did the math out assuming:
    • 265/70R16 tires
    • 5 spd trans with 3rd gear = 1.4:1
    • Stock gearing = 3.73:1
    • 70 mph
Works out to 4014.5 engine RPM. Sooo yeah idk why its happening, but that seems to be the issue haha

Maybe there's a linkage issue? Like I said, I was in drive and downshifted and heard no change. I'll get it looked at. Thanks

What gear does the dash say you are in?

Whats your RPM fall to when you totally let off the gas for a few seconds?

Start from a stop and count shifts as you go up to speed. That way you know you’re in 3rd for sure.

Get your trans fluid level checked and codes pulled. Shift solenoids will not always trip a CEL but usually they will.

how many miles on the truck?
