First time posting, but I've gotten tons of helpful info from this site, thank you all.

Having a hard time finding this exact issue, I just installed led headlight bulbs in my 05 tacoma as well as led fog light bulbs, everything seemed fine and operating as it did before but I just noticed my front side marker lights no longer come on. Everything else seems to be working just fine except the side marker lights, or drl not exactly sure what they are called, looking at the driver side headlight it's the far right amber light, not the blinker light. Any info would be appreciated thanks

Why is that an issue? Not the blinding people comment, but the led on oem housing.. They aren't brighter than other newer headlights I see out there.

Because.led lights scatter everywhere and can't be focused properly. OEM houseings are only designed for.galogen bulbs.

You used an LED in a headlight designed for halogen. You are blinding the shit out of other drivers. I see it all the time and get blinded all the time by them. Look at cars that have LEDs, do you see a difference in the headlight?

All the stuff I read and never came across this issue, I'm looking into it now, looks like I'll have to go another route I don't want to cause issues with other drivers, seemed like a great alternative to buying all new headlights housing. Anyone have any recommendations for brand or anything, for my 05 tacoma? I have read about issues with condensation and bad seals on aftermarket headlights and at the price point was unsure I wanted to try. Thanks for the info

This is the 2nd Gen headlight Bible. The halogen upgrade will significantly outperform any replacement LEDs:

Thanks Nick, for listening. So many out there seem they're trying to blind oncoming traffic. I just don't understand.

Yea I hate it when that happens, I have a hard time driving at night which is why I was hoping to upgrade my headlights, I do not want to be the one making it more difficult for anyone else driving at night. I really appreciate all the helpful info, already got the halogens back in and looking into alternatives.

Back to the original question, maybe the side marker bulb is simply out and needs to be replaced lol

Wow, those are expensive, would it make sense at that price to just upgrade the entire headlight instead? I keep seeing issues with bad seals, condensation, is that common? Or cheap parts, or bad installation that is the cause?

Regarding the side marker bulb, you are correct! After putting in the old headlight bulbs the damn side marker was still out lol I missed the simplest step in figuring out the issue. Replaced that and got original headlight bulbs in and everything's good to go now.

Glad you got it to work but if you decide to upgrade I would consider looking into the ultimate headlight mod by @crashnburn80 . I've done plenty of mods on my truck and the headlight mod has to be one of my favorites.

Non-reputable LED companies flat out lie in their specs all the time, especially those off brands sold on Amazon. No, it is exceptionally unlikely those are anywhere close to 55w/ea. I've tested some amazon replacement LEDs that are far less than half their published wattage spec, which would put them at the more typical 22w/ea. Also note the design on those is awful. It doesn't replicate a halogen filament in anyway, meaning focus will be poor and glare will be increased.

Headlight Revolution is one of the most misleading vendors with their poorly executed misleading YouTube videos. They promote their own brands as 'best' under alias brand names so you don't realize they are actually just recommending their own products in their "independent tests" against the competition. Doesn't seem shady at all. Weird how the same brands always win, which they just so happen to own, but don't call that out. Maybe you should check out their GTR2s, covered in post in post #2816 here. HR claims they are the best performing LEDs on the market by far. Yet strangely they are amongst the worst performing LEDs in the thread due to a very poor design demonstrating a significant lack of understanding in headlight optics. Hmm. Almost like a brand lacks engineering expertise and profits off of making misleading "independent" marketing videos promoting products that they intentionally conceal as their own.
