vF Tuner for the 3.5L Tacoma

If someone buys credits, even though they haven't bought VFT, are the credits still processed or is the money refunded? I think I recall seeing that the email address used to buy credits has to be the same email as the registered user of VFT, right?

Reason being: I guess there is a hacked version of VFT floating around somewhere on the web...I had a guy tell me that he found VFT on a bootleg site for free, earlier today. He said he could buy a Tactrix cable and 4 credits for $250 and do it himself...He apparently didn't like my fee to tune his truck.

 

What's he gonna do with a cracked version?
can't flash without a reg key, and cracking the flasher? you'd have better luck winning the lottery twice.

 

dunno ...didn't bother to respond or let him know there was more to it than that. I figure he'll be giving me a call soon enough.

 

Man! You have had some bad luck with tune customers!
I don't think that there is ANY WAY possible for someone to Flash a tune on a truck without a registered Flash Tool.
Ovtune can correct me if I am wrong.

I love the guys who are ready to do it, and then the guy from FL who drives around and charges $125 comes along and undercuts everyone.

 

would be kind of funny to see someone go through the trouble of cracking it only to then realize they can't flash.

not to mention we will pursue every legal remedy against someone using or providing any cracked/ unlicensed / unauthorized version of our software.

We had a pro tuner tell us the same about price cutting.

VF Tuner cannot tell tuners what they can / can't charge for calibration/tunes.

 

Any idea when the website will be up and running for orders? We had planned on getting the setup this weekend only to find we could not

I totally understand. I've had people ask me for discounts or if I will drive hours to their house without extra travel expense, etc etc...I simply tell people that I am not interested and they can find someone else to do it. I don't play those games, don't have time for it.

Here's a different question:
Is there any way to change the fuel tank capacity parameter? For example, if I got a larger fuel tank would there be a way to increase capacity from stock to higher capacity so that the DTE is correct?

 

We are hoping to have everything updated and rolled out by the end of the week.

What's a fair price for a simple flash? What about if you have to unlock an ECU or perform a TSB update?

 

i charge $200 and it includes updating the ecu if needed.

price might go up since credits will be needed for each vin going forward.

i never really intended to make it a thing but word of mouth has been really good to me. Plus no one else around my AO does it as far as I know. I’ve sort of become “the guy” for OVTune in NC.
