I’m looking at buying a 2019 with a 2” lift. I don’t really need or even want the lift, but the rest of the truck checks off all the boxes for what I’m looking for.
I don’t know shit about lifts so will this effect the mileage or handling or anything else in a noticeably negative way? 2” doesn’t seem like much.

I used to be on a 2” functional lift, and it was literally pointless. The places I off-road I’ve literally seen a minivan go through just fine. Ever since I was a kid, growing up in Hawaii all you see is lifted Toyota trucks. After a few years of being on a 2” lift I decided I wanted to higher lift and so I did it. Having a higher center does have it’s advantages. My point is that most people that talk poorly of 6” lifts don’t have experience riding on them. And for those that do, their opinions are valid.

Unchanged. The biggest hit my MPG took was going to 295/70/17s. Currently I get 18mpg average, and my driving is mostly city.

Ride quality is subjective. What I consider smooth might be different to the next person. If I ever feel like the preload is doing something to my ride quality to the point that I need to do something about it, I will swap to longer springs

That’s a $12k lift built with quality parts and no “spacers/blocks” like tacomaworld normally cares about. Pretty sure the truck is on 37s also. It’s a beaut in my opinion, and done right.

What people should be posting pictures of are the clowns down here in Hawaii on rough country drop bracket lifts, using spacers up front and 5100s that are maxed out, along with fat blocks in the rear and 3” body lifts. It’s crazy.

Fair enough. I would agree that with quality components, ride quality shouldn't really suffer. It just seems that, at some point, it would become a rollover hazard.

What's funny is that I have the same size tires, and they look big on my 4runner. They look too small on your Tacoma, IMO. When are the 35's and gears coming? :boink:

Not sure. It doesn’t say in the ad and the dealership selling it was closed when I went by today.

Don’t remind me. The hold up on my 35s is due to my inability to decide on a wheel size. I’m currently on 17x8 wheels which require me to use spacers to clear the larger spindle that came with my lift kit. I hate using the spacer so I’m considering jumping to 18” wheels and ditching the spacer. However, I’m buying an engagement ring this spring and proposing this summer so money may be needing to be reallocated to other important areas of my life first. Haha

Impressive sir. I get 17-18 city on 265/70/17 C load KO2s on a stock sport suspension.

I would have thought it would be much worse MPGs with a 7.5” lift.

C’mon man. It’s not like she’s gonna get the ring appraised, or notice the difference. Get a cubic zirconia on a gold plated ring and put the balance you saved towards a sick set of 35” Thornbirds for your Taco. Two birds with one stone.

If it’s 2wd go 6” with lift spindles. Or do 3” max with coilovers and do it right if it’s a 4x4

I really thought it would be much worse than it is. I think my driving habits have changed once I got the drop bracket lift though. I drive like. Granny for the most part.
