How do I calibrate mph and speed after upgrading tires to 35s and a lift. I’ve seen some things like hyper tech speedometer calibrator but how do I calibrate miles per hour and miles per gallon?

Hypertech calibrator or the Rough Country calibrator (same device, same support number). I used the Rough Country version....cheaper.

What about throttle boosters Amp’d or hyper tech?

I re geared to 5.29 and got 35’s do I also need to get a throttle booster since I got the bigger tires on there. Will the added throttle mess with the regear because of the added heat from more throttle?

Read the beginning of the post. Tire size calibration is via the Hypertech or Rough Country speed calibrator. VFTune (the tunes specifically) only optimize engine and transmission performance with relation to tire size.

Thank you. I pulled the trigger on the hyper tech speed calibrator, and the amp’ throttle booster. I’m on the fence about the VFTune and OrangeVirus. I’ve seen on here where others have gotten a flash code update at the dealership and helped the 3rd gen engine performance. Thoughts?

I recommend you take a look at the last couple of weeks worth of entries on the following two posts:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...lopment-thread.495735/page-3529#post-25154378
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/vf-tuner-for-the-3-5l-tacoma.662948/page-487#post-25154690

OVTune released the baseline 2.0 tunes and the VFTuner module last June. 2.0 went a long way to address many of the shortcomings of the Toyota base ECU loads for the third gen tacoma. Since June, there have been several active tuners optimizing the base 2.0 tunes. Fuel economy has had a serious increase overall. Throttle response, transmission hunting, and overall drivability has increased. I personally have been driving @PapaRee Premium Kruiser V4 tune for a little over a week now, after driving the premium 2.0 thanx tune for six months, and it is a completely different truck. The Kruiser V4 tune makes my truck drive like a sport truck, and I have aftermarket wheels (285/60R18) and armor front and rear. $800 was tough to swallow when I first bought the OVTune package. However, there are now people who will tune your truck to your choice of tunes for $150-250, including bringing your truck up to the latest TSB. Just so you are aware, many owners have had trouble getting their dealerships to upgrade their trucks to the latest TSB unless the owner complains about a specific problem which the TSB was released to correct.

OVTune is a personal choice. The dealership will not know if you have it installed, unless you tell them. I personally keep a vehicle for 8-10 years. OVTune 2.0 made me like my truck, after coming from a VW Touareg. The latest tunes have made me love my truck.

Where to I buy the vftuner module? I see vftuner store is closed. Or is there another tuner module I can buy and down load the VF or OV software?

The store is closed for a couple of days while they put everything in place for the VFTuner update. They are hoping to have everything up and running by Friday this week.

Good lookin out. They don’t have prices on the site. I’ve seen on some threads they are about $600-$800 is that right? I’m not aposed seeing I’ve already dumped a small countries yearly budget into my build just seeing where I can save here and there at this point but not skimping on quality

The price for the full kit with the tune pack and dongle runs roughly $800.

I just re geared so I might hold tight and see how it responds. I got a throttle booster to.

Is the truck manual or automatic? If it’s automatic doesn’t it read speed from the ABS sensor? Speedo Shouldn’t be far off then, might actually be dead on, no matter what final drive ratio you have
