Firing up the big pits early in the morning got about 500lbs of beef and chicken to cook for the church. Lots of elderly around here needing cooked food.

 

Backtracking to story time from our drive.

Jean Luc chilled unmedicated. He's kinda like a dog and was a little overwhelmed initially in the car with the occasional meow but sat in my lap most of the first couple hours. This was our brief attempt to see if he would chill on Rob's lap which was short lived because he tried to get down and we were like nope, you lost your chance bud. Afterwards he just went back to his carrier and laid down for a good 10-12 hours silently.


As you know, the weather was not great. This was outside of Pocatello. Fun fact, I have family here that I've never met. My stepdads brother. He says he's a grumpy old asshole and I'm not missing much.


Then in Nevada just west of Elko we come upon this:

They routed everyone off the interstate and stopped traffic. We hopped on our gps and figured out a 90 mile detour to the town of Eureka where we could get back to 50 and back up to 80. Otherwise there was zero way around this and hopefully no one followed because it was not safe traveling. (We didn't see anyone follow)



Came upon yet another accident but thankfully they allowed us around it. Roads were pretty icy and you didn't want to go fast on any turn. We only lost a little traction once.

As you can see we were in high elevations. Somehow we ended up in the middle of nowhere barely seeing anyone driving and went through probably 5 passes.



This was just a little of the ice build up on the truck. I kicked a bunch of it off when we got to a gas station. I wouldn't have wanted to be someone traveling behind us if we were dropping these chunks.


And finally Jean Luc happy to be out of his carrier and at our friends place.
