Now I'm off to help figure out some conundrum in an Excel file. No idea what I'm getting myself into...

Somehow one of our boiler operators (in his late 60's and technologically declined) deleted the script we had on an excel sheet for automatically formatting and printing some data that gets new values everyday. I remade it easy enough, then he tells me "we used to have this smiley face button on the top that you clicked to activate it" Uhh... I don't know how to make that happen. Ended up just setting it to the macro "ctrl-B" which I told him stood for "control bullshit!" And he said he could definitely remember that. Fast forwards two weeks and all the boiler operators love the control bullshit.

Edit: if you can tell me how to make a "smiley face button" appear in the control panel (or anywhere) on excel, I'd appreciate it.

Assume it's 110V, can you just use a WiFi enabled "smart" outlet and control that remotely?

I used to visit frequently a mfg plant in the northeast that had the tiniest little elevator. Like HR complaint if 2 people got in it small. It would occasionally stick and not move when you hit the lift button. Their guidance "just jump up and down, it'll unstick". Yeah, that elevator was installed in 1910 or somesuch, thats not happening.

These channels get welded to the side of the forklift project with no access.

It is 110V but with there being a power switch then the built in wifi switch, I don't know what effectively adding a third one into the mix would do or what harm it might do if the power just turns off part way through a cycle.

If this was at home, I'd be able to get it up and running with minimal issues. Being at the mercy of the wifi security on campus is ultimately the issue.

A bullshit button would be amazing.

For the Excel file I'll be nosing around in, part of what they want will be easy enough - drop down selection from a custom list.

There is something very weird with some of the cells, though. It won't let me delete or edit the cell content and anything I try to change it to gets added to the end of what's already there.

    One of the cells says:
    "Time Sheet5"
If I try to change it to
    "Time Sheet"
    The cell becomes
    "Time Sheet5, Time Sheet"

Or something to that effect until it fills the entire width of that cell.

I think I might just scrap it and start over. For my own sanity.

If the built-in power switch is a mechanical switch (push-button/rocker type) it should be fine. The only concern I can see is if there's some sort of time delay circuit built in to it (Can't imagine why there would be) where when push the built-in switch, it initially sends power to some software controller, and than a few ms later, actually powers up the unit... The WiFi should be a non-issue; if it's not connected to a network, it should, for all intents and purposes be as if it didn't exist.
