I had the same problem with a thermaltake...high end power supply too..Troubleshot EVERYTHING thinking I assembled the PC wrong...I finally took the powersupply out of another pc and it started right up...The Powersupply that failed even passed the paperclip test...It just had no voltage over a certain threshold...RMA ftw.

On my latest build I completely dropped the spinners. I just used them for file storage. I did not realize just how bad they slowed the system down even if they weren't being used.

I now have a 2TB NVME for my system and a 2TB SSD for storage. Delays are now a thing of the past.

I do make sure I backup my data every few months. I lost two years of everything ( photos, web pages, finances) one time and it wasn't fun when a spinner died and I was lazy in my backups.

I recently got two 6TB "spinners" WD Red Pro 10krpm and am migrating my data to them. They're actually really fast; for a platter drive.

What do you use for backup software? I want the 2nd drive to be an actively updated clone (not compressed) that I can disconnect most of the time but have changes (both adding and or removing files) be reflected on automatically when connected.

currently I am using a 2TB USB3 SSD portable drive. Seagates

I have two of them. One I use for data backups and the second one is for MP3/MP4 rips/storage for my T9 radio in my 4Runner and for a 4K projector I use for home parties and 4Runner/Tacoma meetups (none since Covid-19).

It is fun to have a full size projector going when camping at an offroad spot no one would expect it.

Nice lol that would be Hilarious at a meet up.

Do you use any specific software or just what came with the external drive?

    Hmm...

    2tb WD Blue NVME $206.91
    2tb Cruical BX500 2.5" $189.99

I paid $110 total for my storage, both were like $55. I get where you're going with that, but I'm not adding another $275+ to my build just to get rid of a spinning drive, didn't have the budget for that sadly. I have a second m.2 PCI 4 slot that someday I'll fill with a super fast NVME.

    Edit for bad math.

Try $600 for a PCI-E 4.0 2 GB drive at launch and $950 for an Optane 900P when they were the way to go for a scratch drive lol. I have more into memory in my computer than I do the CPU.

IDK if you're sold on building it but see my posts a couple of pages back..what roughly would your list cost you?

Would like to build but finding a video card is probably going to be near impossible. It was around 1250 total.

Assuming you mean the post asking about the pc? How much are you looking to get?

You should really buy a cheap, $70-100, 128-256GB SSD to use as a boot drive. Only keep your OS on it and maybe your favorite game. Trust me, it makes a world of difference for almost no money and keep the spinning platters to hold your game library and files.

I use acronis. Have used them since I switched from ghost many years ago. It works well, backs up within windows, and also has an option to build a bootable iso to boot off usb if needed. It's fairly cheap, and I usually upgrade the version about once every couple years. It has lots of other options as well, like backing up android devices. I don't use any of the other features though. Just the backups. My phone is already in googles cloud.

Not sure if there are any around you, but my local microcenter had 3070s in stock last time I walked in. They weren't on the shelves, and they were not listed on their website. They keep them up front, and you have to ask a sales associate if they have anything. They had 2 or 3 3070 MSI triple fan cards, and this was like 6 or 7 in the evening so they had been there all day likely. They go for a premium though.

I'm seriously debating the 6+ hour drive to my nearest microcenter and just camping out on my three day weekends till I can take a 3090 home.

My new box showed up, it's flippin -uge!

Heck the box for the box was nearly as big as my desk!

    Even next to my Cosmos RC-1000 the Cosmos 700P DE is l a r g e.

The RC is classified as a dual system Chassis and yet the P is single system, interesting...

Funny how things change in 10 years.

Really looking forward to moving into it.

    PXL_20210216_163801797~2.jpg

Thus far I have two, not really gripes but; things I noticed? One the back door is steel, stamped, single layer, a bit flimsy and cheap feeling, doubly so given the thick tempered glass side feels so premium and second, the front cover "door" has a weird piece of acrilic wool covered particle board which I assume is for noise dampening and for mass loading to make the part feel more solid than it really is, it's just a chunk of plastic, I don't intend to use it so but those two measures feel silly on what's supposed to be a halo level case.

Other than that the thing looks and feels sweet.

Wish there was a more positive locking on the side panels beyond just the tension slot and magnets but I digress.

Otherwise fit and finish is pretty good, as it should be.

Debating painting the ski's gloss white... might try wrapping them for an accent or something IDK.
