I've had my 2021 Limited for a few weeks and it's been working great. I have a company phone so I can't use the app but the fob has been working fine for my uses. Since Saturday if my truck sits for more than an hour or two the fob won't start the truck, but if I start it and drive a few minutes to another location it will remote start after being shut off for a few minutes. I've repeated this 4 times now over the last few days. Anyone ever run into this or have any ideas?

The only things I've added are the factory bed lights, LED's for the interior, and LED reverse bulbs but I did all of those the second day I owned it.

    Thanks,
    Ron

My dealer setup the Toyota connect for me. You may have to sign up.

I can't use the Toyota connect because of my work phone. I just don't understand why the fob works to start the truck after it was recently driven but not after sitting for a few hours.

Does the lights flash when you do the 2 locks and hold lock when you are trying to remote start? Plus, make sure the doors are locked before you do the two locks and then the hold lock.

Thanks for the replies, I think it might be outside temp related. It didn't work this morning when it was in the single digits but it worked at lunch and again at home after sitting 2 hours.

Try holding the remote touching your chin. You would be surprised on how your body will work as an extra antenna. Mine just started at 10 degrees F.

So lock it 3 times and then hold it on the fourth?

My works from being unlocked and doing the 2 locks and then the hold.

Yep the lights flash with every push on the fob so I know it's receiving the signal. I tried it both starting from locked and unlocked and it's working now both ways, curious to try it in the morning again when it's colder and the truck sits for 7-8 hours.

I can't download or add any apps to the phone, doesn't matter if it's done over wifi or not, company policy.

    Thanks again for the replies.

Should work 2 presses of lock then hold on the 3rd. That’s how my 2021 works

The truck is only a few weeks old but I did try both remotes just to make sure. The truck responds when I press the fob, just doesn't start.

Mine would do this too, I *think*. Whenever it would fail to start, I'd unlock and do the 3 lock and it would fire up. Sometimes it would take a few tries. Never bothered looking into it.
