2/4 of the cars I’ve owned have had bad head gaskets. Nightmare.

How do you have such bad luck?

I was going to reply to you earlier this week but forgot :anonymous:

Fuck that, I want decent towing capacity and fuel economy.

Tundra is the best out of all the mid size trucks, towing. The 4.30 rear end makes a world of difference. I tow 7000-8000lbs all over the lower 48 with no issues.

It’s ultimately your decision, but... Toyota reliability is only available on a Toyota.

Ask @smmarine how his F150 experience has been. :)

I got approved today to buy the truck that I wanted, it’s in Fort Worth so I called a buddy to go look at it and he called me a little while later and wanted to know if I was aware the truck didn’t have an engine.
Apparently the engine had an issue and is being replaced under warranty but they said it could be 30 days before it’s installed.

Bmw is in the shop, failing smog even though it’s stock and there’s no CEL codes. Secondary air “not ready”. Shop said something about it could potentially be a split wire or rodent damage. Then I remembered the rat bastard that was leaving trash on top of the engine before I caught his ass.
Always some shit. Nothing can ever just be simple in life

I’d be happy to wait for a new engine personally but that’s just me

I don’t really want to wait because of the head gasket in my truck, and I’m also slightly worried that the truck might be a lemon, this will be the 3rd engine it’s had and it’s also had 3 owners in 34K miles.

I’m going to test drive a truck with the V6 instead of the hemi tonight and we’ll see how it goes.

That sucks about the BMW, Cali Smog rules can suck it.

1st off, you obviously haven’t driven an Ecoboost. It is a marvel of a little engine, and I can’t say much bad about the engine itself. 375HP, 470 torque out of a V6. I’ve pulled 26+mpg highway before, cruising slow at 60mph of course. 22-24 at 70 and above.

My piece of shit F-150 would tow circles around a Tundra when it’s not busy breaking something . The torque is no joke.

But seriously, don’t buy anything other then Toyota unless you like dealerships. I’ve been suing Ford over my f-150 for almost a year now. Dodge doesn’t inspire reliability either.

Toyota is supposed to be coming out with their own “Ecoboost” Tundra setup here soon. If anyone can make a turbo truck, it should be to Toyota. We will see.

I drove three brand new F150s when I bought my last Tundra. I also drove a RAM 1500 & a RAM 2500. The three F150s I drove had three different engines: the 2.7EB, the 3.5EB, and the 5.0 NA. They were nice trucks, don't get me wrong. BUT, the reliability isn't there compared to the Tundra and I will argue that until I die. I rock crawl with guys who tow with everything under the sun; Suburbans, Motorhomes, Toyotas, Fords, RAMs, etc., and the only truck that never has issues is the Toyotas. When I went to Moab in 2018, one of my buddies was towing his JKU with a RAM 3500 dually. We had just left Denver headed up i70 over the pass. That truck should have towed that weight up the mountain without a problem. My Tundra was doing fine, cruise set at 55mph when over the radio I hear "slow down, my truck is getting warm." 5 minutes later, we were on the off ramp with a broke down RAM. Pretty much solidified my choice to buy another Tundra lol.
